Umiling si Kate. "Hindi, pero matatanda na kami. We don't need your permission to do anything."
Bumalik sa kanya ang tingin ni DL. "Gano'n ba 'yon, Luck?"
Umiling siya. "I've always respected the Code. Pero mahina ako pagdating sa kanya. Kasalanan ko."
He didn't only break their friendship, he also broke their brotherhood at Lothario, the one cardinal rule that really mattered to each member above all else-- The Code. The Code expressly stated that when a member has called dibs on a woman, every member must respect it. Never disrespect another member by coveting his woman. Never approach his daughter, stepdaughter, sister, female cousin and niece with dishonorable intentions. From DL's point of view, getting her only sister pregnant out of wedlock was a grave disrespect. He didn't want it to happen that way. He would have wanted to court Kate like a gentleman, make her fall in love with him, ask her to marry him, respectfully ask for her parents' blessing and her brother's as well, then marry her and have kids with her. But it didn't happen that way.
