Kagami wrapped her scarf around her neck as she passed through the corridor of a huge mansion that once belonged to her friend, Clint Joseph.
she stopped in her tracks and turned at her side to face a portrait of her late friend.
he looked so young, probably in his teens.
a wide grin was spread across his face that reached his eyes.
with the corner of her eye, she saw another portrait of a teenage boy with the same features: shaggy brown hair and sparkling green eyes, but he was not her friend at all. he was Lila's son.
but the smile on his face was the one they call fake.
there were times when she asked Lila about her son.
"He is just like his father." was the answer she got.
she never understood what she meant by that comment.
As long as she remembers Clint Joseph was a bit overbearing, but not bad at all.
she first met him when he came to Paris as he finished his studies abroad.
he stayed in her house because she and his family were in good terms.
with the last glance at portraits, she exited the empty corridor.
she took out a white cane and black shades. a black car was there outside the backdoor, just as Lila promised her.
as the car stopped at her destination, she stepped out wearing black shades.
to the world, she was not Kagami Tsurugi any longer. she was just a blind Asian named Kinza Yong.
after thanking the driver she entered the old church on the outskirts of Paris.
no one came here often and she can't take a chance of being seen in Paris.
Also, this place held a lot of memories of her past, some good and bad.
She was here today of all days, when she almost died in a car accident. visiting the world which no longer belonged to her, this was after all his world and honestly, she no longer wanted to think about him.
But no matter how she tried, she couldn't keep herself prisoned.
taking a deep breath, she entered the old church. the smell of old wood dominated her nostrils.
there was no one as expected. she set herself at the end of the old seats for visitants.
sitting their for which seems like ages, she heard someone knocking on the main door.
"Hello!" a familiar voice echoed.
her breath was caught in her throat.
'No not him of all the people.' she thought, a mass of black hair came into her view as she was sitting in the last row.
"Sir!" there was a pause." Anyone?"
an old looking priest appeared from the curtains.
"I was just expecting you, son," the priest said with a kind smile on his wrinkled face.
"I just needed a break."
"I am very well aware of your yearly visits on a certain day."
not wanted to get busted Kagami flew out of church. with tears stinging her eyes, fighting to be released.
with all her self restraint, she entered the black car.
the driver looked puzzled at her state, she was lucky she was wearing shades.
"back to the manor," she ordered.
what was he doing there? does he regret ditching her like that?
even if he did, it was not her concern anymore. even if he wallow in regret or shame of himself.
he was no longer anything to her.
and how wrong she was.
