Chapter # 53 One at a time

Ladybug and Chat Noir sprinted from rooftop to rooftop chasing the Akuma.
Chat Noir was alarmed at her behavior with him, she has been bitter towards him. The reason was unknown to the feline hero. Lost in his thoughts Chat Noir didn't see the Akuma kicking him on the back. Ladybug ran towards the fallen hero, "Pay attention, Chat!"

In the turmoil of emotion, Chat snapped at her, "I am paying attention!" 

Ladybug ignored him, "Where that Akuma went?" she glanced at their surroundings.

After a moment of following a loose trail, the superheroes arrived at the Agreste Manor.

 Chat asked, "What now?" there was a sound of glass shattering, closely followed by shouting. "Someone is in danger!"  Ladybug and Chat Noir jumped inside the manor through a broken window.

"At last you've found me," Akuma grinned at them, "Now, be good children and handover your miraculous and Emma Agreste."

The superheroes instantly recognized the boy, "Cole?" Ladybug whispered under her breath but was heard by the Akuma.

"How do you know my name?!" The Akuma yelled, furiously.

Chat Noir shouted, "It is you!"

Ladybug noticed a figure laying on the floor, she recognized the person immediately as Marrinete Agreste, her mother. The Akuma ruthlessly pulled Marrinete to her feet, "Let her go!"

Akuma placed a razor-sharp blade on her neck, "Why would I? give me your MIRACULOUS!!"

"Wait! you want Emma Agreste, right?" Ladybug said calmly.

The Akuma looked interested, "do you know where she is?"

She glanced at Chat from the corner of her eye, "Yes, but first, let the Lady go." 

"No!  first you tell me where is she?!" 

"Alright, she at the masquerade party," 

"WHAT HECK IS GOING ON HERE!!" a very distraught looking Adrian Agreste hurled towards the Akuma so save his wife.

"Lucky Charm!" "a bow and just one arrow?'  Chat Noir rushed towards Adrian.

Ladybug glanced around and her eyes landed on the chandelier just above the Akuma. Chat Noir caught up to Adrain, holding him back.

Ladybug aimed at the chandelier and released the arrow. she ran in the direction of  Akuma. After that everything seemed like a dream to Emma Agreste disguised as Ladybug. 

she threw her yoyo, it was wrapped around Marinette and she pulled her forward as the chandelier came rushing down to the ground.

Adrian came rushing to his wife's side, "What happened!?"

"she has fell unconscious, everything is going to be alright, da--- sir" Adrian gave her a little smile despite everything has happened.

Adrian scooped his unconscious wife in his arms, "I have to take her to the hospital,"

Chat Noir insisted, "We can help,"

"No, you go after the villain, I can take care of her." 

"he is going to the masquerade," 

Chat Noir narrowed his eyes, "how do you know Emma Agreste was there in the first place?"

"I have my sources," she picked up the discarded bow and slung it over her shoulder.

"Hey, Ladybug!" Volpina and Carapace joined.

Ladybug looked furiously at the heroes, "Where were you two?"

"I was busy," Carapace rubbed his neck embarrassed, "the people are taken hostage inside the hotel, I was keeping eye on the movement of the Akuma. he is in the great hall, along with all the hostages," Volpina explained.

She was about to retort, but her earrings beeped, "Alright, Chat and Carapace try to get the hostages out, and Volpina, you meet me at the rooftop of the hotel in five minutes." Ladybug left the three to work on the plan.

"Tikki spots off," the red Kwami landed on her palm, "here, have some biscuits,"

"Are you okay, Emma?" Tikki bit the cookie she was given, "yeah, why wouldn't I be? Tikki, spots on!" 

Ladybug met Volpina on the rooftop and told her the plan.

Volpina gave her a determined look, "Alright, I will try my best,"

Ladybug silently reached the main hall, Carapace and Chat Noir were already battling the Akuma.

The Akuma grabbed Carapace by his throat, strangling him.

"Hey, stop!" she yelled to get their attention, "you want Emma Agreste, here is she," Ladybug showed him the screen of her communicator that showed live footage of the rooftop. Emma Agreste was recognized by her blond hair, swaying the ear.

The Akuma threw Carapace to the other side of the room and rushed to punch her, "LIER!!"

Ladybug dodged him, "I am not lying, if you don't believe me, go see yourself!" with a last kick in her stomach, the Akuma sprinted towards the terrace of the hotel.

Chat Noir scolded her, "Ladybug, what you were thinking!" the superhero trio followed the Akuma to the terrace, "trust me on this one,"

"Finally, I've got you, I can take my revenge," but the girl didn't even move a muscle, "playing deaf, I see," the Akuma jumped at the girl with his blade held above his head.

within a second Ladybug was behind the Akuma. she kicked him with such a force that Akuma fell of the terrace, breaking the safety railing in the process.

 Ladybug shouted, "Volpina,  Now!"

"Gotcha!" Volpina grabbed the Akuma by the wrist, "don't mind if I take your necktie," she ripped the necktie off of him.

"No!" the Akuma shouted, "catch, Ladybug!" Volpina threw the necktie up.

Ladybug tossed her yoyo and caught it mid-air, she ripped the necktie and released the evil purple butterfly. 

"No more evil-doing for you, little Akuma," she released the Akuma after purifying it.

"Woah, that was rough," Carapace quipped from behind her, "that's what I thought," Volpina replied.

Chat stated, "That was just an illusion," 

Ladybug arched a brow at the cat-clawed hero, she gazed at his emerald eyes with a challenge in her own, "You thought I was going to endanger a civilian's life?" Carapace and Volpina observed the duo with interest.

"Well--- no, of course not," his stutter was enough answer for her.

Ladybug broke the eye contact, "You should leave, you are about to transform back,"

"Take care," Chat noir muttered under his breath and sprinted off of the terrace.

Ladybug sighed, left the fox and the turtle on the terrace, "do you think they like each other?" Carapace jumped at her question as he was not expecting her to be so blunt.

Carapace contemplated her question, "I don't know," he adds after a pause, "but you are now sounding like my sister, it's quite scary,"

"really? you have a sister, poor soul."

Carapace made a face, "I am sure you will change your mind when you meet her,"

Volpina grinned, "We will see,"
