Part 18

That Same Night - Joe's p.o.v;

"Joe this was lovely, what else do you have up your sleeve?" Cate asked me with a bright smile on her face. I asked Cate out to dinner with me at this restaurant I reserved right by the beach. No matter what it took, I wanted Cate to feel special on this trip, like she really could forget. I knew I fell in love with her a long time ago, when I couldn't sleep without seeing what she looked like laying in front of me. To hearing her laugh when she was no where to be found, to when I realized that through anything, it had to be her and I through the problem, not one of us against it. And all through this time, I promised myself that I would continue to love her in ways she's always dreamed of. 
"Well, I was thinking a nice walk on the beach after this, if it's not too late. A little cheesy but I'm all for it." I suggested with a laugh.
"That sounds great, shots first?" She flashed me a smirk.
"I'll take you up on that offer, preference?"
"Tequila. Easy shot." She winked.
"I like your game." I replied as she laughed. She brushed back a piece of her curly hair and smiled at me. She was wearing a red velvet dress, with the perfect shade of red lipstick that followed the smile she led on. In this moment. Right here. I think I just fell in love all over again. "Oh and another thing Cate, you're going to love this one. Tomorrow I'm flying everyone out here to come spend the last night with us. Caspar, Ollie, and Zo. Alfie would come but he's visiting with family." I told her. I've had this planned for a couple days, I have things for us to do tomorrow and I'm excited. I just want her to have as much fun as possible.
"Really? Aw I love that, I can't wait to see everyone. So I'm guessing you really do have more up your sleeve from here huh?" I nodded & gave her a smirk before cheering our first shot, she picked up one and cheered with me.
"To new beginnings." I said, there was a pause before she picked up another smile.
"To new beginnings." She repeated back.

"The sand is so cold, gosh." Cate said as she almost fell into me.
"Feels good huh? A sandy beach beats boring old London doesn't it?"
"I like it there, that's where my things are. And my bed, oh I love my bed." Cate rambled, she's always something when she's drunk. She stumbled again but I grabbed her arm.
"Here sit down with me," I brought her down to the sand. "What's one thing you'd like to do before we leave?" I asked.
"I have no idea, parasailing? Oh but that'd be kind of scary, being so high, what if we fell?"
"Cate, it'd be secure duh," I laughed. "But we could do that if you'd like, whatever you please."
"Joe, I-look at me," She grabbed my face and pulled me towards her. "I really do appreciate what you're doing for me, but I should be back at the University right now. It's like I'm taking a huge break from what really needs to be faced."
"But that's the thing love." I cupped her hands and kissed her. "You're supposed to feel like you're taking a break because that's what this is. I wanted to do this for you because I know what it's like being stuck in a place you can't get out of. I will never be able to relate to how you feel in this particular situation, but I'm trying my best to make sure you know that I'm here."
"Joe, I do know you're here. But this isn't something you can just take away from me so easily."
"Cate. Bloody hell, I-I fell in love with you. You can't just expect me not to care about you. It happened to you, it matters. Because it happened to you. That's all there is. If I could find anyway to make you not feel like how you did when it happened, then I'm going to. Don't ask for anything less, cause you will never get that." I let go of her and shifted back to face forward. There was silence between us for a minute that all you could hear was the waves crashing into the sand. Cate slipped her arm around mine and laid her head down on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry Joe. I know you're trying and I can't begin to comprehend how grateful I am to have you in my life as you are right now. I fell in love with you too. I fell so goddamn hard for you, call me a fool because it's so cliché how I fell for my brother's bestfriend even when I told myself not too. But I want this trip to be for you too, this is for us. Our break. Not everything has to be about what I want to do, you're apart of it." Cate poured out to me. She always knew what to say in any situation, almost like she wasn't thinking when she talked, it just naturally comes out. The most beautiful part of her, is that you can feel how meaningful her words are.
"Hey, just because it's cliché, doesn't mean it wasn't bound to happen. I mean come on, Caspar set himself up on that one. And it does not make you a 'fool' or whatever you said." I laughed. "I think it's adorable how much you feel for me, you light up at the sound of my name."
"I do not. I just get a little excited that maybe you're around when I hear it so I can kiss you again."
"Babe, every time we kiss it still feels like the first time I planted one on you." I said, I could feel a smile from her break into her face.
"I can't tell you how much I understand that feeling. I wanna feel like that for the rest of my life."
"What's it feel like for you?" I asked.
"First it's like an electric shock because I'm feeling your lips again, but then it's like time stops. You're just kissing me." She told me. I laid my head down onto hers, and we sat there for a while listening to the sound of the waves and Cate pointed out some of the stars we saw and how some connected into different things. I couldn't tell you how long we were there for before we went up to the room.

Back at the Room - Cate's p.o.v; 

I plopped down onto the bed, I felt like I was spinning even once I laid down. I am not going to like this when I wake up tomorrow, ugh. Joe picked me up by my arms and brought me to a pillow, thank goodness cause I did not want to get up again.
"I love you for that." I said as my face was partially buried into the pillow. He covered me up with a blanket and laid next to me.
"I know, I know." He replied. I turned over so I could face him, I looked up at him smiling at me which made me smile back. "I love you." He said. I picked my head up and kissed him before laying back down.
"I love you." I said back. I closed my eyes and started trying to go to sleep. He placed his hand on the top of my head and started playing with my hair, I feel so at peace. This day has been amazing and it's not over yet. And I owe it all to him.

heyy, here's another chapter, it's more of a filler really. i'm just trying to progress the story a little, I have some plans;) hope everyone had a great new years and here's to 2020, i'm ready. -destiny <3
