Part 21

Later that Night, Back in England.
(2ish days until University) Cate's p.o.v;

We just got back after the long flight & amazing vacation Joe decided to through together, the guys are all exhausted and I just can't wait to walk back into the house and have a drink. It's my last real night here, I just wanna chill out, relax, spend some time with everyone before I go. I already said my goodbye's to Zoe and Alfie before getting on the plane, those two decided to stay on vacation for a little while longer while Ollie and Caspar came back with Joe and I.
We pulled up to the house and rushed inside trying not to get soaked from the pouring rain, definitely didn't miss that. Once we got inside we all let out a huge sigh of relief to be home and threw down our bags. Ollie kicked off his shoes and plopped down on the couch.

"Ughhh, oh how I missed this." He exclaimed.
"Missed what? Your everyday spot?" Caspar joked. "Yeah guys we won't be seein him anywhere else for the next few days." Joe threw out, we all laughed as Ollie rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now if you don't mind, I'd like to get a little shut eye please."
"That's what you have a room for!" Caspar said, followed by our laughter. He walked over to Ollie and sat down by his feet, Ollie set his legs on Caspar's lap as they both closed their eyes to sleep. So much for Caspar using his room too huh?

Joe picked up our bags and brought them down to our room, I walked over to the kitchen and picked up a bottle of wine from the rack.
"Classy Caspar, I bet these are his bottles." I said outloud.
"They are." Joe comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist. "One of those is mine too actually," He let go and went to pull out a bottle. He held it out for me to look at and he flashed a smirk. "Would you like to try some? Haven't opened it yet for myself." I looked up at him and nodded my head.
"Yes please." He kissed my forehead then pulled two glasses off the shelf above the rack, cracked open the new bottle and poured us both some. I swirled mine around before taking a sip. "Mmm, Joe this is wonderful. I didn't think you were a wine type of guy."
"Oh I see, so there's still things you have yet to learn about me then?" He joked.
"Apparently so, thought I knew everything already. What else do you have up your sleeve?"
"My lips are sealed until the time comes." He did the zipper with his lips and laughed, I rolled my eyes then laughed with him. I took my last sip of my drink then held out my cup for more. Joe gave me a funny look before pouring a bigger glass for me.
"Hey, are you sure you want to drink most of this bottle just in this moment?" I asked him, he laughed for a second then paused and nodded his head.
"I wouldn't mind sharing this with you, I've waited for a moment like this to have a nice glass of wine at almost 4am with the one I love most." He smirked.
"That's so cheesy Joe hush." I said jokingly, we both smiled at each other. I took another good sip then crossed my arms. "Join me for a smoke?" I asked, he looked at me surprised.
"Cate you know I don't smoke." He told me.
"Yes I know, but I wasn't talking about a cigarette, a splif okay?" I asked him, he paused to think about it for a minute before giving in.
"Sure, why not? It looks like the rain cleared up, let's go out on the balcony."

We walked over to the sliding door and went outside to the balcony. It did stop raining but it was kind of cold out here, I started to shiver once we got to the ledge. Joe noticed I was already cold so he began taking off his jacket and putting it around me.

"So sweet of you." I flashed him a smile. "I'm going to miss this," I sighed and looked up at the sky.
"I'm going to miss you." Joe said, I smiled once again then lit up the joint.
"I'm going to miss you too Joe, just know that everytime you think of me, I've already thought about you. You stay on my mind." I inhaled again before passing it to Joe. He smiled at me then inhaled.
"You going to be alright out there?" He asked me, I looked up at him then began looking around. I paused for a second and thought to myself. I know I'm never going to be okay with what happened, but I can't let it take over my entire being. I nodded my head and turned back towards him.
"I think so, I mean I have to go back don't I? I can't just runaway from what happened & I know that. Finishing this year is my biggest goal currently, just knowing I'd be a Senior after, I can't let this bring me down." I told him, he smiled passing the joint then turned away quickly.
"You took the words right out of my mouth." He turned back to me. "Cate, you're strong, stronger than anyone I know. I promise you got this and if you don't, you know where you're home is." He kissed me on my forehead, I smiled faintly.
"I truly love you Joe, you always know what to say." I paused. "You know there was something I wanted to ask your opinion on," He had almost a puzzled look on his face. "Sydney texted me the other day before we went on the pon-tiki."
"Okay? And what'd she have to say?" I could tell Joe got a little angry as he knows how things were left of with her & I.
"She just apologized to me about what happened with her with Scott, I texted her back saying that I accepted but I didn't know if I could ever be close with her again." I told him.
"I don't know Cate. I know she's supposed to be your bestfriend but what she did was really shallow, she put him ahead of you and that's the way you should think about it."
"Harsh." I sighed. "But you're right. I couldn't be bothered to see what she had sent back after that. So, you think I shouldn't be friends with her anymore? I mean she's also my roommate too."
"Personally, no. But then again I can't completely say that cause I've dealt with some fucked shit with some friends I've had. Maybe try distancing yourself from her more until you're ready to fully trust her again, you know, if that ever happens." He inhaled then exhaled the smoke. "You still want this?" He asked me, passing the joint. I shook my head and rested my arm on the ledge, putting my head in my hand. "Hey, love it's okay. Promise me something?" He asked, I turned my head to him. "Make at least one new friend when you go back, it could be someone you wouldn't even think to be friends with. The best friendships are made that way you know." I smiled and went in to hug him, he wrapped his arms around me & I exhaled. "Unless it's a dude then I don't know I'd feel about it." I laughed & tears started forming in my eyes.
"I wouldn't dream of it."
