Ok, this one is kinda cute I think. Happy reading!
Third POV
Merlin was on a trip for Gaius when he saw her. She was beautiful. Short black hair, green eyes, small, and energetic. That's right. Merlin had found a dog.
The dog looked like a Pitt Bull and had obviously had a rough life. She was so scared of him, but she couldn't run. Her paw had been caught under a boulder. So, Merlin slowly came up to her and murmured comforting nothing's to her.
As he got closer, she started growling at him. But her voice was coarse like she wasn't allowed to use it often. She was truly a brave and tortured soul.
"Shhh. It's ok, I'm here to help you. I just need to move this rock then I need to look at your paw. Ok? To do that, I need to get close to you is that ok?" She had stopped growling, but she still looked wary. Merlin grabbed a rope that he always carried in his bag and tied it into a loose loop. He slowly came up to her and gently put it around her neck. He flinched when he saw the markings of a chain imprinted on her neck. "I know how that feels. I promise, this won't hurt and it's going to come off as soon as I'm done checking your paw. I promise."
He made sure the loop was loose around her neck and tied it to a tree that was nearby. He slowly got to moving the boulder off of her paw. As soon as it was moved enough, she moved her paw out from under the large stone. She didn't run though. She stayed and sat still.
"That's a good girl. I just need to check your paw really quick then you can go." So he did. And when he untied the rope from her neck, she didn't run. She stayed and even followed him the whole time that he collected herbs. Then she followed him back to Camelot and into the castle. She was by his side the whole time.
"Well, if you're going to follow me, I might as well name you. How does Ciara sound? It means dark in Irish." She let out a happy yip. "So that's a yes then? I like it. Ciara. Beautiful."
They walked back to Gaius' chambers and dropped off the herbs. "Ok Ciara, you have to go in my room until I get back ok? I'm not sure I'm allowed to have a dog with me when I work." And he put her in his room and closed the door behind him.
He tried to leave her, he really did. But she somehow got out of his room every time he was about to close it. So he let her come. He walked into Arthur's chambers with Ciara in tow.
Arthur's POV
That bumbling fool of a servant finally gets to my room. And he has a dog with him. "Now I know what you're thinking sire. But I found her when I was collecting herbs for Gaius and she just followed me. I couldn't keep her in my room because she kept getting out before I managed to get the door shut. She won't get in anybody's way and she won't interfere with my work. She won't leave me alone either."
I do like dogs so I'll give her a chance, but if she messes up, she's gone. I grumble in response and get back to this speech I need to get done my tonight.
"Thank you so much sire! You won't regret it!"
"I better not Merlin."
---Time Skip---
Third POV
It had been three months since Ciara had followed Merlin to Camelot. She had gotten better. She no longer was wary of new people; because if Merlin was ok with them, so was she. She went on hunting trips and hated them. She had to the eat raw meat that couldn't be used in the meals- although Merlin cooked it up for her most of the time- and she had to sleep on the ground. She slept on Merlin's bed most nights, except for when Merlin had to do something, then she was with him. They were never apart. She was truly a loyal soul.
