Heyo guys! So I've noticed something about Merlin stories. There's never any fires! So... I was thinking... what if I have a fire?! Right?! Because fire is used so much in the castle and around the kingdom, so I'm going for it. Sorry I just spoiled the chapter, you can deal with it. Happy reading!

Lancelot and Merlin were just walking around on their day off. They had just gotten meat rolls for lunch-Lancelot paid- and they were headed back to the castle.

"Lancelot, stop. Something's not right." Merlin had a look in his eyes that anyone would be smart to pay attention to. Good thing Arthur wasn't with them.

"What's up? Did something big happen?"

"Something's going to happen." Just as if it was a play and the actor heard their cue, a fire started in one of the bigger homes. "Lancelot, go get some help! I'll do what I can here!" Without waiting for a response, Merlin ran to the entrance of the house.

One of the occupants of the home ran out as soon as Merlin got to the door. He was holding two babies. "Sir, are there any other people inside?" The man was covered in soot and was gasping for breath.

"My wife and daughters."

"I'll go get them. You have to stay out here and breathe deeply. I'll save them." Just as he was running into the burning building, a woman with two toddlers ran out. She stood by her husband and began coughing.

"Is that all of you?" The woman shook her head.

"We have one more daughter inside. She's twelve. Can you get our baby back to us?!" All though her voice was sad, it wasn't terrified for her daughter. Strange.

Merlin ran inside and navigated the house. He made his was past the kitchen and he passed a bedroom. "HELLO! IS ANYONE IN HERE?! I'M HERE TO GET YOU OUT! SHOUT IF YOU CAN HEAR ME!" His lungs were filling with smoke. He quickly pulled his neckerchief up to his mouth and breathed through it so that his air was slightly less smoky.

There was a weak coughing from one of the rooms closest to him. "I heard you. I'm coming. Stay awake for me, ok?"

He quickly found her under a bed. "I'm here to get you out of here. You have to follow me. Here-" He untied his neckerchief- "use this to breathe through." She gratefully took the cloth and held it up to get mouth and took a breath through it. "Ok, now we just have to get out. Can you move? You're not stuck or anything?"

"No, I'm fine. I can move. Thank you."

"Thank me after we get out of this house. Do you know a faster way out? Or is the front door the fastest way?"

"Front door." She walked towards the opening of the room and went to walk out of it. She was stopped by the door collapsing in, making it impossible to pass by without getting burned.

"Ok, new plan. We're going to break through the wall."

"We can't. The house is right next to the castle wall. It won't break." She paused to cough. "We're trapped. No escape. Dead. Thank you for trying to help me. I really appreciate it." She slowly walked to the bed and sat on it, silently crying.

Merlin walked over, sitting next to her on the bed. "I'm going to do something really quick. You can't tell anyone, deal?" She nodded, not having the motivation to answer back.

Merlin knew that he couldn't stop this fire, he can't even start a fire and control it without a fire pit. He could, however, make it a little easier for them to breathe. He quickly cleared the air for them.

"Your eyes are cool. Mine do that too. But they're silver." Merlin looked at her, shocked. "Is that not normal? What color should they be? I've seen silver eyes before! Please don't turn me in! I'll stop using my magic! Promise! Just, please, don't tell the king." At this point, she was hyperventilating which was not good for the current situation. Or any, but this one made it really bad.
