This one is one of my three am thoughts so if it sucks, that's why. Hope you enjoy it anyways. Happy reading!
Third POV
There were some exotic creature traders in Umeaf. (thank you random kingdom name generator) And they were here to sell out. The leader was getting ready to settle down with a woman that had stolen his heart as well a rare white lion cub. But getting back on topic, they were selling everything super cheap.
"What have you brought me today, Darren? Do you have another dragon with you? That would be great." King Perry asked. You see, he had been in contact with Darren before when he had bought a teal dragon with purple wings. They called her Clem.
"In fact I do. It's still an egg, but it will hatch soon. There is a catch though. You have to buy it's accessory."
"What is this 'accessory' you speak of?"
"A boy. A dragon lord in fact. His mother is dead and he would have followed her if I didn't take him in. If you don't take him, I will be forced to take him in with me. I'll be traveling all over and he already shows signs of powerful, spontaneous magic. He is five years old and already knows how to read, write, ride and sword fight. His village was very..... hands on. They made him learn so that they could have entertainment on the nights they didn't have any work to do. I only know because I had to plan with his mother on how to get him out."
"I'll take him. Does he have a name?'
"No. His mother wasn't allowed to give him one."
"Then I will name him Robin. After my son." He stood silent for a moment before speaking again. "No. I will name him Merlin. After one of the strongest birds out there. Thank you for your business, Darren. Good luck with married life. Come visit once and a while!"
So, Darren left King Perry with Merlin and the dragon egg. And two weeks later, Kwan was hatched. Merlin got to have Kwan, the black dragon with blue eyes, and raised him with all of his wonderful dragon lord magic power. He also helped Clem grow up more gracefully.
King Perry made Merlin the prince, but since he had been raised in a village, he wasn't exactly prince like. He made friends with everybody and the whole kingdom of Umeaf loved him. His servants all loved him, and they were great friends. They all dreaded waking him up in the morning though.
Merlin was the best swordfighter in Umeaf by the age of eight. He taught himself by training and reading books. He loved to watch the knights too. He did that in his spare time. He learned the languages of all the kingdoms that Umeaf was in contact with- allies or enemies- and he took over trading when King Perry became sick.
When Merlin was twelve, King Perry died. The whole kingdom wept, but none more than Merlin. King Perry was like a father to him. Sure, they didn't call each other "father" or "son" but they were close. Neither of them wanted to replace those that they had lost, so King Perry was Uncle Perry to Merlin. And Merlin was just Merlin. He didn't like to be called "sire" "lord" or even "prince" he preferred to just be called "Merlin."
