Do you like the sound of silence the way I do? Some love it while others despise it. There are two kinds of silence, one that gives you peace and one that makes you uncomfortable.
Silence is often defined as the complete absence of sound or when someone/everyone is not speaking causing silence. When no one is talking and you hear the sound of the rustling of leaves, trees, with the sound of birds happily singing which gives you a warm and soft feeling.
When two people who deeply understand each other silently stay and comfort each other without the needs of words and it gives you this light feeling of relief that no words can describe.
How about the sound of the night when crickets sing and the sound of howling wind, that somehow makes you feel scared or uncomfortable yet at the same time gives you serenity.
These are just one of the many things that give you joy and happiness in the presence of silence.
Well, how about the silence that you can't stand.
Have you ever felt a suffocating silence? So suffocating that you feel the silence alone can kill you.
Just like the sound when your parents just finished arguing and they can't seem to come in terms, or the sound when your parents just scolded you but you don't want to apologize or you simply don't want to talk 'cause you don't know what you'll respond to them whether it'll have a bad or good effect on them.
If you're familiar with that, then I'm pretty sure you also know the silence between two people who hate one another.
The silence between strangers whose not familiar to each other that makes you want to talk but too shy or pressured to do so because you don't know what to say.
The silence in your room where it creates a deafening silence that could cause your ears to burst since there is absolutely no sound to be heard.
Silence is not something with completely no sound because it's deafening. There will always be sound whether it's the sound of your breathing, the movement of leaves, the howling wind, etc.
There is a lot of ways to describe and define silence. To others, silence is peaceful while to some people silence is scary and uncomfortable. Words give meaning and come to life depending on how we see and perceive it.
