4.1.2020, Laura

The rest of the day went by too fast. I didn't want to leave her. I didn't want to feel alone all over again. This would be so hard but I couldn't do much about it. I kinda had to go back home. If nothing else for school. I sighed and opened the hotel room. Maihua was waiting there for me, leaning on the wall looking at her phone. She quickly turned it off and gave me that smile I've started to like a bit too much.

"Ready to go?" she asked, still smiling. I nodded and we strarted walked towards the lobby where I'd meet Kirsty, Emily and Klara. We took our sweet time, walking down the stairs instead of taking the lift.

I sighed when we reached the last few stairs and I knew I'd have to say goodbye. I turned to her and gave her a long hug. She hugged back just as tight as I did and we stood there for a bit.

I took this moment in completely. The smell of her cologne and her washed hair. Her clothes that smelled like vanilla. Seemes boring but on her it was so much more than just a scent.

We moved away. We gave eachother a sad smile.

"I'll text you when I land"

"And I'll call you when I land"

We hugged again and I made my way over to my sisters and my best friend. I waved to Maihua and then we left. I walked out quickly not wanting to make this goodbye harder on us.

"Wait I forgot something" I said and ran back. I stopped Maihua by grabbing her arm and pulled her closer to me. Our lips collided and fireworks went off once again. We finnaly parted, smiling at eachother. I whispered my final goodbye and then left waving once again. This time smiling happily.

After a long flight we finnaly made it back to Texas. Klara called us an uber and we got home. I hugged my parents and proceeded to tell them how amazing it was.

I realized that everything does happen for a reason. If Max had never cheated I wouldn't know Maihua. I smiled at the thought. My phone buzzed. Maihua replied to my text.

I'm boarding the plane now. Talk to you soon <3

I smiled wider thinking about the few days I just spent with her. My thoughts traveled from the moment I saw her at the pool to the hospital moments to the New Years celebration we had to the conventions and to our late night hangouts. Lastly they stopped on our last kiss. The magical moment I most likely will never forget.
