Two days left until Vidcon I had my tickets, even a few vip ones that of course I bought myself. My sister actually wanted to come but she was nearing her move date and didn't really have the time for it.
"I wish you could go you know?" I told her while we were sipping on our coffee.
"Go where?" I heard my mom ask as she came into the room. I realized I never even told her about the event. I did ask her if Maihua and I can stay in the guest side of the house and she said yes, but other than that she didn't know anything about it.
"Um-" I stuttered. Was it too late to ask? I looked at Em asking for help. She shrugged.
"Vidcon is in two days" she replied, not following up with it. Mom looked at me with a bit of a disappointment.
"You didn't even ask me?" she finnaly said, giving me the most disapproving look I've seen from her in a while.
"I completely forgot. I'm sorry I should have asked you" I said, looking down in shame and praying that she wouldn't tell me not to go.
"You do realize you're only 17 right? And also your birthday is coming up and we have no plans yet. Aand your sister is moving in a week, do you really think we have time for this?" she started. I sighed, knowing very well where this was going.
"I know mom but I can take care of myself. Besides I'm going with Maihua who is 18. And I don't want anything special for my birthday so we don't need to plan. And I know she's moving but she already has everything planned and you don't really need me to be in the way. On top of everything I already have tickets and everything, I can't just give them back" I argued, hoping to convince her. She shook her head.
"If you go you won't be celebrating your birthday at all. Not even with Maihua. Or any of your friends for that matter. So if you're gonna go I recommend you invite everyone else as well or you won't see them for a while" she hissed and got on her way to do whatever she was doing. I was so tempted to yell back at her but held back. It was already bad enough.
