5.2.2020; Laura

I've been up all night having second thoughts about going. I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my friends, some of them I met online and haven't even met them yet. I had so many plans even if I did tell my mom I didn't have any. I was going to take everyone camping to my grandpas old weekend house that's pretty much in shambles now.

I sighed as I saw it was already five am. I didn't bother trying to sleep anymore, rather taking my phone and changing out if my pjs. A walk should help right?

I got on my way, headphones in my ears and phone in my pocket. I took my usual route, out of town and into nature, my favorite place here. Probably the only one I would miss if I moved away.

Mabye I should move away. That would mean my mom can't boss me around. I could do almost anything I wanted, as long as it's legal. The thought of that made me smile. I wanted freedom. I wanted independence.

If you asked me how long I stayed out I wouldn't be able to tell you. When I came home most of my family was up, apart from my dad who came home late yesterday. Night shifts and stuff.

Mom was cooking in the kitchen, which I swiftly avoided, not wanting to talk to her at all. My older sister was getting ready for work and Em was studying for her finals already.

"Heyo" I said as I went past her open door. She looked up and paused her music.

"Hey" she smiled. She invited me in upon seeing I wasn't in the best mood.

"What's wrong?" she asked before I even sat down. I shrugged in response.

"I was going to invite my internet best friends and my other friends over for my birthday and now I probably won't be able to. I'll end up celebrating by going to Vidcon with Maihua and that's it" I explained, now in an even worse mood.

"What if I convince mom that she lets you have it. It's our 18th after all. You only get one of those" she replied, bringing a sad smile onto my face.

"I guess you can try but I doubt it would work" I replied, slouching down even more on her bed.

"Wanna hang out today? Until Maihua comes over of course" she asked. I nodded, happy to spend some time with my sister and hopefully forget about everything for a bit.

"Okay let me finnish up and we can get started" she exclaimed, excited. I nodded again and scrolled through my phone while waiting.
