I almost threw my phone out of my hand when it suddenly rang. Laura's face popped up on my screen along with her name above it. I answered it.
"Hey!" I exclaimed. I know I only just said goodbye to her like a day ago, but that's a lot when you love someone.
"Hey" she mumbled much less excited than me.
"What's wrong?" I asked immediately and moved away from Gaonha. She gave me a worried look, hearing what I asked, but then looked back at her phone.
"I broke up with Max and now I feel like shit" she explained.
"Really?" I said in an excited tone but cleared my throat quickly. "I mean, really?" I added, this time with empathy. She chuckled lightly.
"Yeah" she trailed off.
"Do you regret it or?" I asked, not sure what else to ask.
"No, I'm glad I did. That's why I feel like shit. I mean shouldn't I be sad to lose him?"
"Well not necessarily" I replied. We talked about everything for a little longer before switching the theme. It took us a whole hour before we decided we've had enough call time for the day and hung up.
I dropped onto my bed with a smile on my face. It was probably very wrong to be happy about my best friends breakup but I couldn't help it. I wanted her to myself, and I don't mean like in a kidnapping way. I mean that in a 'I want her to be my girlfriend' way.
Gaonha knocked on my door and opened it before I answered. She looked at me with worry. I smiled and opened my mouth to start talking.I stopped unsure of what words to even use. I also wasn't sure if being visibly happy was appropriate. I shrugged and went for it.
"Laura broke up with Max" I explained, short and simple, with a smile on my face. She shook her head playfully with a smile plastered on her face.
"Don't forget that she was in love with him. Don't try and rush her into a relationship and if she does that herself remember that she'll need a lot of support" she said after, now with a serious tone.
"Don't worry, I know. I might lo-like her, but she's still my best friend and that's what I'll be to her" I said, stuttering a little after my mistake. Let's not expose myself.
