Maihua smiled and nodded.

"How did you know you were in love?" I asked. She thought for a second.

With a shrug she started explaining, "It was different for both of them. First time I saw her infront of a sunset and my heart skipped a few beats. Her smile always made me smile and that's when I realized it"

I nodded. "And second?"

She thought for a second. Her expression turned into a blank one. I raised an eyebrow at her. She snapped out of it and started talking.

"It was right after a really bad moment. I was really mad at something but she didn't care. She just hugged me and I felt reassured. I realized I fell in love as soon as I did. It just felt so right"

I smiled. This has been on my thoughts a lot but I haven't been even close to figuring it out. I thought my feelings for Maihua might have grown. I wasn't trying too hard to figure it out as I knew I didn't want to be in a relationship yet.

I looked at her again.

"I wasn't sure about this but make it two" I said, my hands shaking just a little.

"Make what two?" she asked, keeping her eyes on me.

"I've been in love twice" I said, my smile staying barely visible.

"Oh" she smiled and looked back at the water. I followed, looking down at it too. After a moment of silence I spoke up.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I need to admit something right now or I might never" I said at a quick pace. She looked at me and opened her mouth to say something.

"Yo Maihua! Your second cake is here!" I heard from beside me. I looked at the others, a little bit away from us. Maihua nodded and stood up. She helped me up and before leaving leaned closer to me.

"We'll talk later and you can tell me okay?" she smiled. I sighed and nodded. She lead me to the others.

I moved to the side while she sat in the middle to slice the cake. My eyes never left her face as she smiled at the cake and blew out the candles. Her eyes were still glowing even though there were no candles infront of her to reflect in them. Her eyes found their way to me. She smiled and looked back at the cake while being handed a knife.
