Chapter 29

Tiara:

I sat on Eugene's lap replaying in my head the day Sullivan was killed. He died because he cared for me. I will not let that happen to Eugene. If he cared for me, Chris will kill him too.

No. I will not let that happen.

I held his face in my hands.

"I can't lose you" I said.

Eugene kept looking at me without blinking.

"I've lost too much too fast that I won't be able to survive if anything happened to you Eugene"

He did nothing but watch me. Eugene was a very good man. Someone I could not have. All the odds were against me. But I had this moment with me.

I licked my lips. He did too.

Leaning down I pressed my lips on his. I kissed him. I felt how instantly his arms tightened around me. I moved my hands to the back of his head fisting his soft hair and a grunting sound erupted from his throat. His fingers dug into my waist in a painful hold. He didn't take over. He let me have this.

This moment. It was everything.

A sudden knock on the door brought me back to the reality. What in the world was I doing?

I tried to push him, but he did not let go.

What have you done Tia?

I looked at him with wide eyes.

There was a knock at the door.

"Tia? Sweetie? Why have you locked the door? Are you alright?" It was Emily. She might have come in search of me when I didn't go back.

What have I done? Chris will torture me till the end if he knew I kissed someone.

"Tia?" Emily knocked again.

"We're in here" Eugene said to Emily.

"Oh. Is she fine?" She asked concern filled in her voice.

"She is with me and she is fine" Eugene said looking into my eyes.

"Okay. I will be in my room if you need me" She said and went away.

Eugene looked at the door and then me. He was calm. Very calm. While I was unable speak. I started to panic. I was anything but calm.

Oh no! Chris will hurt Eugene because of me.

It was becoming hard to breathe. My chest started to hurt.

"Tiara? Stay with me!" Eugene shifted me so that I was straddling him.

I shook my head. My chest hurt.

"No" I held my head in both my hands. My whole body began to shake. I rubbed my throat vigorously thinking it would help. Everything hurt. Moving out of his lap I tried to walk away but my knees gave up and I dropped down on the floor.

"Fuck" I heard Eugene curse and he was in front of me, on the floor, on his knees.

My vision started to become hazy. I squeezed my eyes shut. I wanted to feel better again. I wanted it to stop hurting. I wanted the pills.

"My p-pills" I managed to say.

I didn't see Eugene but I felt him suck in a harsh breath.

"Princess look at me. Open your eyes." Eugene said.

Shaking my head I bent forward in pain resting my forehead on Eugene's shoulder. It felt like my lungs was on fire due to the lack of oxygen. But he pushed me back and held my face in his hands.
