Tiara:
Was I dreaming?
I was in a balcony with the most amazing view.
The sight in front of me was breath taking. I was standing on top of one of the tallest building looking down at the city. I have never seen anything like this before.
The city was lit. Lights everywhere. There was a beach in sight; I could hear the sound of the waves washing ashore.
"Beautiful" I said.
"Yes" Eugene said.
I don't know what Eugene was talking about because when I looked at him, he was watching me.
I shook my head and focused back on the city. It was a cold starry night.
Something caught my eyes. The beach looked glittery.
I let go of Eugene's hand and went closer to the railing. Sparing no second he came to my side.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Look at that" I pointed to the beach "The water. It's glowing." I said.
"Tell me something Tiara, have you ever been to a beach?" he asked
"No" I said shaking my head and looked away. I was embarrassed to admit it.
Eugene was someone who has seen the world and then there was me who has barely seen anything at all.
I felt inferior.
"Sea sparkles" he said
"What?" I looked at him. He already had his eyes on me.
"The water is sparkling because of the presence of sea sparkles" he said.
Though I had no idea what they were I nodded.
Everything here was so beautiful. Loud gushes of cold wind that passed through me made me feel like I was flying. I closed my eyes and spread my hands in the air. This moment meant so much to me.
"You have a beautiful smile Tiara" Eugene said
Was I smiling?
I opened my eyes to see him right in front of me, looking at me with a smile of his own.
I cleared my throat and composed myself real quick.
"Thank you so much for bringing me here Eugene" I said.
"From here the city and beach looks like it has been decorated with Christmas lights. Just like the way you have decorated your room. So I assumed you would like this as well"
"I do"
"Do you really?" he questioned.
What does he mean by that? I did not ask him that.
"I learnt to fight at a very young age. I was fond of it and I loved winning. For me failure was not acceptable. While training if I lost a fight I would also lose my sanity and become destructive. So at times like that my father would bring me here and it was these lights brightened me and calmed my rage. It was like some sort of magic." he said. In his eyes I could see him reliving the memory.
But why was he telling me this? I listened to him anyway.
"When he died this place lost its magic. But I come here often to remember the time I spent with him. Trust me there have been times when I have stared at these lights from dusk till dawn but the darkness inside me remained. I had nothing to hold on to so I embraced the darkness a never lost a fight since then." He said.
