Tiara:

I waited till Emily was sleeping comfortably. She was in a lot of pain today so Nathan had to redo the cast on her leg and he also gave her a slight sedative before he headed out.

Once I was sure she was sound asleep, I covered her with a blanket and went out of her room.

I was near the foyer when the door opened and what I saw almost scared me to death. It was Eugene. He was not in a good condition. He was bleeding and unconscious. Arton and two of their men had to carry him.

"Oh my god! What happened?" I shrieked and ran towards them.

"He has been shot. Call Nathan now." Arton said.

Shot? Oh my god! Something happened inside my heart. It hurt to know he was hurt. I know the pain. I've been through it. Will he be alright?

"Tia! Call Nathan right now" Arton snapped.

"He is not here" I said.

"Go get Nathan." Arton ordered one of the men.

Arton laid Eugene on the bed that was in the room adjacent to his office while the other man stood near the door waiting for any command Arton spat his way.

Carefully Arton ripped open Eugene's shirt. I hissed at his wound and moved closer to him. The blood was turning black where the bullet thrust. That means...

"It is turning poisonous" I said to Arton

"Are you sure?" he asked trying to mask his alarmed thoughts.

"Yes. Look, the blood is turning black. We've to do something."

My heart was thumping. The thought of something happening to Eugene scared me like no other.

"Like what? We have to wait for Nathan" Arton said.

From the amount of blood Eugene has lost, it will not be wise to wait for Nathan.

"No. it is too risky" I said.

"Then what the fuck are we supposed to do?" clearly Arton was stressed and angry.

Wasn't I supposed to be scared of him? But I was not. The only thing that mattered to me was Eugene.

"Give me something to clean this portion" I said and surprisingly it sounded like an order.

Arton and the other man shuffled around the room and gave me a cloth.

With utmost care I pressed the cloth over Eugene's wound. But my hand was pried away by a deathly grip on my wrist. It was Eugene. He was awake. His brown intense eyes glared at me.

He must be in pain.

Gently I touched the side of his face with my free hand. Like a little boy he leaned into my touch.

"Its okay Eugene. You are going to be fine." I tried to soothe him.

I observed his eyes. They were bloodshot and his pupils were dilated. Even in this state his hold on my hand was painfully tight.

"He's awake" I said

I wanted to celebrate this moment, I was happy and my heart felt at ease. I never felt so calm under his stare. But my relief was short lived when his eyes closed the hand he had wrapped around my mine loosened and his hand fell limp by his side.

'No. Please keep your eyes on me. I want your eyes on me. Please open your eyes' I wanted nothing but for him to wake up. My heart squeezed in discomfort.
