Calion felt tense as the argument between daughter and parents ensued. It was growing quite heated and you could almost feel the desperation in Shelyn’s voice as she pleaded. And despite her good intentions she only looked like a child throwing a tantrum to her parents although Calion averted his eyes when her father finally slapped her.
Finally, it came down to her changing from pleading with her parents to pleading to him. As if she thought he had the final say as to whether Helm stayed here or not. And he couldn’t help but take note to her desperation. ‘Anything?’ He wanted to say but kept quiet as his brow raised. Naturally he wasn’t such scum that he’d order her to lay with him immediately, but all the same she would essentially become a servant of sorts. Indentured to him until all was paid off no matter what it is, he would ask of her. Without going into specifics with her as to what he’d expect he didn’t answer her and only turned to the father.
“How much more will it cost to bring all that you need here?” Calion asked, after all he was beyond wealthy, the more this cost the more Shelyn would be indebted to him. “If it is possible you may bring all your supplies to the palace and see to his recovery here. In exchange… your daughter will be my indentured servant until I feel she has paid off her debt for your family. Don’t get me wrong, she won’t be a slave, and perhaps within a year or two she may have worked enough to be returned to your possession.” He said, after all, the children were owned by the father, it was up to her father if he’d strike this deal.
In the end Shelyn had done the very thing she wanted to avoid. The attachment to her elder brother was a burden. And by all accounts her own fault.
Mrs. was in shock. How could the pharaoh agree? She looked to her husband with a pleading look. She didn’t like the idea.
He sighed. "Fine...if she wants the responsibility fine. Let her have it. Helm's recover is on her head. We will go and do our best to return in a timely manner." He sighed in frustration. One child fighting for his life and the other now indebted just because she can’t stand being away from her sibling. Where did he go so wrong?
Shelyn fell to her knees in utter exhaustion. Her head resting at Calion's knee. She had sold herself all so she could care for her brother. She hoped Calion understood how important it was to her she repay Helm for all he had done. It wasn’t due to being a brat. But merely being in debt to her brother who did nothing but protect and raise her.
Her parents began leaving. All they could do was find what they needed and inform the pharaoh once they knew.
Helm's bedding was changed since he was moved. And then his bandages changed before he was placed back in bed.
The room silent for a moment. Basically, waiting to hear Calion order her about now
Calion didn’t speak nor move until her parents had left and only after did, he extend his hand and cup her head as she rested against his knee, his fingers weaving through her golden hair as his mind swam with the possibilities. Granted, he understood she cared for Helm deeply, after all he was her brother and she had looked up to him all her life and was saved by him multiple times he was sure. He didn’t want to go about exploiting her care for her brother, but all the same this was a business transaction and she was now his, until he decided she had paid enough back. Undoubtedly Yun would flip out. Jin himself likely wouldn’t understand and the only thing he’d likely understand was that Shelyn would be staying in the palace.
