Calion made his offer, essentially telling her parents he would cover all the payments and that they wouldn’t need to sell her off. Even if Yun didn’t mean for it to come out like he was going to buy her, Calion couldn’t help but use the opportunity to frame Yun as a heartless man who only saw a way to profit out of this tragedy.
“If that is acceptable then we can move along, no one has to be getting engaged today after all, it’s only right she has some say about such matters? Or do you think of her like some object, Yun?”
Yun growled internally. "I wasn’t offering to buy her. I truthfully wish to marry her. Make her my wife. I truly enjoy the young woman. And by her marrying me her parents could give all attention to their son who is in need. Without fear of Shelyn being alone.”
The Mr. and Mrs. sighed. And Mr. replied. "We humbly appreciate the offers my lords. But Shelyn won’t allow us to leave and her be away from Helm."
Mrs. nodded. "Yes...perhaps...it is just best we send them both home for now. What if Shelyn is at risk? Or any of us. I don’t want our son's problem..."
Mr. interrupted. "If you can ensure me that my daughter will be looked after, then I accept your offer. But I cannot agree at this moment to a marriage. I can’t lose both my children."
Calion smiled internally at having Yun's request denied as his eyes met the father’s. “We can abandon this talk of marriage, there are far more important matters at hand, so I apologize for my brother’s untimely request. He doesn’t think things through as much as he should. In any case, I understand Shelyn would very much like to be around for Helm’s recovery, which if so, she will be welcome to go home and visit at times. You have my word as the pharaoh that while she remains here, I will see to it personally that she is safe and remains unharmed. If that is acceptable, please put together an estimated amount of funds you will be needing for the first month and I’ll review it and have such funds delivered to you as quickly as I can.”
The two bowed deeply. Grateful. And excused themselves for a moment.
Jin following along asking to go potty. Mrs. took him. But Jin was insistent on help. Once done he asked to see Shelyn's room. The Mrs. was reluctant, but she called for the other brothers to ask if they’d bring her clothes at least.
Calion rose up after hearing the mother call out to him, walking past the father and deeper into the home curious as to what she had wanted and half thinking Jin might be a little bit of a nuisance to the parents which had so much on their mind right now.
“Sure, of course we’ll bring her some clothes. She’s sleeping in Helm’s room right now, but I have no doubts she’ll like to get washed up and dressed at some point today.” Calion said, half wondering where exactly her new room would be during her stay at the palace. After all… he assured her father he would keep her safe. Perhaps he should just enlighten her that he’d made arrangements that she stay in his bedroom, after all… what safer spot in the palace than the pharaoh’s bedroom?
“We really should be letting you two rest though I’m sure you have a busy day preparing for the arrangements to head back home. I’ll be sure to let Shelyn know the plan and that she can visit in a few days to see how Helm is coming along.” He said respectively to the mother.
Yun followed. But remained silent.
