“I wonder if you hate me for this or see this as a blessing considering your parents wouldn’t have the funds to care for him as he needs. Rest assured Shelyn this doesn’t need to be a horrible arrangement for you.” His hand lightly and gently slid down to cup her smooth cheek, lifting her head to look into red eyes through the tears. “Just because you’re a servant of mine does not mean you must become my concubine…” Although of course at some point the lines may blur.
“You’ve watched Helm through the night, you should take some time to care for yourself. A bath, a nap, then /we/ can return and look over him. It only has to be a few hours.” Calion said, after all he had slept like shit and rather missed his bed by this point as they neared noon.
A protest boiled. She didn’t want to. She couldn’t. But despite being internally torn at the thought. She simply nodded. No longer having the energy to fight him or anyone else for that matter. The side of her face a bit red and swelling from the smack.
She struggled to her feet. Picking up the little bunny and putting it beside him in bed. Then she kissed his head and whispered for him to rest until she came back.
With that she returned to Calion. A look of exhaustion. What could she say to him? Thank you wasn’t even close.
While Jin wouldn’t understand the thought of what he might think...it left her pained. She wondered why she never saw his mother. Surely Jin had a mother different than Calion did. She wondered about the last pharaoh. And why she had yet to see them. Was Calion left to care for his siblings alone? Was Calion just looking to give his brother a mother? So many thoughts it hurt her head while she stood there waiting on Calion to usher her to wherever he desired her to go.
Calion stood as she left to tend to her brother for a moment, waiting on her to return before he silently took her hand. While before he was hesitant in touching her too much now he felt entitled to. After all she was his now and he sincerely doubted she’d protest too much of anything considering he brother’s life was on the line.
He escorted her out of the recovery room giving firm instructions that only a couple of the elder doctors were permitted into the room. He wasn’t going to risk just anyone being allowed to enter and that included even his brothers. Ultimately it would only be a room accessible to her parents and the two of them.
As Calion left the room, his fingers entwined with her own he spotted Yun carrying a tray of food as he had left to get her something to eat. To which he smiled at his younger brother. “That was kind of you. I’ll be taking it to my room with her. If you’d be so kind as to tell Jin that his teachings will be a bit delayed, Shelyn is understandably exhausted so I’ll be treating her to a bath and a soft bed to rest her weary self.” He reached out to take the tray out of Yun’s hands.
“Ready to go, Shelyn?” He raised a brow.
Yun clicked his tongue in hatred. Handing over the tray. "Right...." he turned and glared at Shelyn who kept her gaze on the floor. Silent. Nodding as she walked around the caring Yun.
Not that she had fallen for him, but when compared to Calion she did prefer Yun. It was mostly because Yun had not allowed her to be attacked but it didn’t matter anymore. Any life she might of had was gone. She would be a servant. A good one as long as she was given time to be with Helm. No matter the task she would get it done if only to return to her brother.
