Amarie happily accompanied the two towards the gardens, loving the feel of the warm wind in her hair as she felt so ‘free’ now, despite knowing she had only exchanged owners, although all the same even if she were just a servant still she felt more like a friend. She would do all she could to ensure that this goddess and Calion would have a happy relationship, it’s the least she could do for her pharaoh, the man that she loved and knew was far out of her reach.
Yun closed his book and stood. "I was there. I know exactly what I saw." "You think I’m ungrateful? But you are much better? How blind are you? You walk around acting so godly. Yet the moment a woman is assaulted without your order you dismiss it as if she has to of asked for it. Exactly how blind are you to the things your servants do behind your back? And Shelyn...you think you deserve her? Your precious concubine tortured the poor girl for telling a truth. And you dismissed it. That girl does nothing but beg you for help still after you tell her you can’t trust her words. She accepts your gifts. And thought if your people before how it would look that the pharaoh allowed her to be harmed." Yun grit his teeth. Annoyed. "How do you deserve anyone like her?! Being pharaoh doesn’t mean you are best fit. I am just as capable of giving her the world. Even Jin is. So tell me how you deserve her? When you’re so blind and selfish. You wouldn’t help a beggar in the sand if he wouldn’t be useful to you."
Jin rushed ahead through the gate and into the lush garden. Leaving the instrument in Shelyn's hands. The guards still following close. Shelyn entered after and hummed. Each flower she passed opened and tilted toward her as if she were the very sun itself. So calm. And sweet. Her fingers busying to retie the string. Her hum becoming a song of sweet love to the area. As she strummed the string to reset the sound before she began to play it as she sang.
Jin ran about dancing. Happy. The guards settled at the entrance.
Even now, with the ashes of her home in view she remained joyful. Nearing Jin as she kneeled under the large tree and played for him.
“You say such words, but were you not bending her over and hiking up her dress about to take her against her will? And then you have the audacity to say you are as capable.” He chuckled and shook his head. “I deserve her because I am a god and deserve the things I want. It is as simple as that. She’s quite happy as it stands and I imagine in due time she shall be with child and with her family taken away from her she will grow a new one with me. Something you will not be part of considering the atrocities you have committed.” Calion moved towards the door. “Perhaps your tune will change next month, and if not… well you have the rest of your life to come around. Good luck giving anyone the world when you’re cooped up in your room, the rapist that you are.” With that Calion had left although he was not yet finished searching for Shelyn’s mother. He’d already sent several spies to investigate. News could pop up in days, or… weeks though it was all he could do for now.
Amarie happily spent the warm day out in the garden admiring the lush flora and how they seemingly teemed with life and energy. It was a very relaxing experience, although she felt a little guilty for having so much time not doing anything but to relax and enjoy.
“I haven’t seen young Jin so happy in quite some time. Perhaps you have a natural inclination towards raising children and motherhood, lady Shelyn.” She said, pleased that Shelyn was able to keep in such good spirits despite knowing her family home was ash not too far away. She also didn’t mention anything of Calion’s relationship with Shelyn while Jin was around, undoubtedly the boy would throw a fit if he learned Shelyn and Calion were on their way to becoming something quite serious.
Yun clicked his tongue. But he didn’t let his brother leave without hearing what he really thought. "A god..you’re a dictator who tells people lies. You’re no god. Just a man playing pretend. And even sadder still she humors you. There’s nothing you can give her that another can’t. You’ll always be second best when it comes to her own brother even."
Yun hissed. He would never let Calion have Shelyn. Not willingly. Despite trying to have her and her refusing him, Calion was no better. All Calion cared about was being on top. As far as he was concerned Shelyn was just humoring his ego. And everyone else too. If Helm was still alive, Calion would be nothing more than the pharaoh who simply lived. And Helm would be the center of her world. That was true. How could Calion, as selfish as he was, ever truly appreciate someone like Shelyn or even Helm or their parents, as people.
For all Shelyn knew she didn’t really truly matter to Calion unless she became pregnant. What other use did he even have for her other than that?
Shelyn slowly came to a stop. Handing Jin the instrument now that he had calm down. "Now lets try our chords. La~.." she sang in a high pitch and Jin strummed the high chord. As Shelyn stood she continued in in different pitches for Jin to strum. Nearing Amarie she pointed to the watering can. Hinting for her to start watering everything.
Calion left without giving his brother the satisfaction of a response. He was a god and as such had no requirement to explain himself or justify his actions. Despite what Yun thought of him he knew far well enough he was quite generous to those he thought fitting of receiving his grace. He doubted any of his concubines would say anything bad of him and he doubted Shelyn would have any regrets. In fact, he very much intended to spoil the girl rotten and despite all that was going on today he couldn’t help but think back to that magical morning with her. Even now, just a few hours after he craved her in the worst ways. Without a shred of care he left his brother locked up and doubted he’d be back before two weeks at the very least. For now he casually made his way out towards Shelyn’s gardens, wanting to surprise her with a visit.
Amarie nodded and silently fetched the watering cannot wanting to speak considering it would disturb the lady’s singing. Fulfilling her duties as best she could she watered the lush garden, having to go and refill the can from a water pump several times to make sure the grounds were sufficiently saturated. A sweat broke out upon her body in the warm sun although she assumed, she’d have a chance to hopefully wash before dinner considering it would be highly embarrassing for her to be near Calion in a less than clean and perfect state.
