MELINA

chapter Twenty three

The next day in the dungeon, the whole family decided to settle their differences because, time was ticking fast and they needed to act quickly. Melina could not keep grudges for long, so she spoke to her parents. "Father, Mother, I found out that I was the girl the prophecy was talking about few weeks back. When I realized I had more than one power, I spoke to Noe and he was the one that helped me. I know you still do not believe me that is why I will show you." She could not come out of the cell because no one had the key so, she had to show them from there.
The king and queen watched her with rapt attention and their mouths hung open when fire shot out of Melina's hands. She also created balls of ice, small flowers, few rocks, a little water and she even lit up the whole dungeon but put the light out immediately so that it will not create suspicion. She also told them about the healing power. King Arthur was the first to speak up, "I am the worst father in the whole of life's history. Imagine, I did a whole lot of bad things to you because you did not have any power. I have beaten you countless times and even encouraged my friends to beat you. Look at you now, you are even more powerful than I am. I know you can never forgive me but, I am asking for your forgiveness Melina".
The Queen also added hers, "I do not deserve to be called your mother. I should not have watched the king when he was doing all sorts to you. I should have been a good mother. I should not have cast you away because you were powerless. Please my daughter, do forgive me". Melina was very happy because she did not imagine that a day like that could ever come. "Father, Mother, I have forgiven you unconditionally and, I want both of you to know that I love you and I will always love you".
The whole family smiled at one other and there was a comfortable silence. Noe kept on saying that he wished he had the keys to Melina's cell because, he wanted to get her out by all means possible. Melina smiled and said, "I think I know a way to get out".
She conjured her heat power and touched the metal bars of the cell. They all melted within the twinkle of an eye.

When Melina finally came out, the first thing she did was to hug Noe then, she hugged Nylah and then she walked timidly to her parents but eventually hugged them. They all sat down afterwards and formulated a plan. They finally decided that Melina will use her heat powers to melt the lock to the main door in the dungeon then, they will find a way to get to the secret room in the palace. They really did not want their final plan to happen because it involved Melina battling with Ashley but, if they wanted victory, she had to do it.
Melina melted the lock and tested to see if the door would open by slowly opening it. She signaled to her family and they all tiptoed to the door. Melina opened it and saw that the whole place was silent and deserted. It was like a dream. There were actually no guards or servants around and they were able to get to the secret room safely. The first thing Nylah did was to jump on the king-sized bed with a sigh of contentment. Everyone laughed. Melina spoke up, "so right now, I am going to confront Ashley and her mother and show them what I am made of. I will not let them know you guys are here so that I will be able to carry this out effectively".
King Arthur decided to bless Melina, "I cannot stop you but, I can pray for you. May the gods be with you my daughter. I know you will come back successfully". After that was said, Melina went out of the room. She figured out that Ashley and Olivia would probably be in the throne room. as she got nearer, she was hearing voices and laughter. At that moment, she was hundred percent sure that they were there.
