Chapter Thirty two

The Present
I woke up and everything was cloudy. After a few minutes I remembered everything. Trance, garden, Navistar, Alycaneia, mates, Xavier. Shit! Xavier, I had forgotten all about the meeting. I scrambled to my feet and ran back to the dining hall as fast as I could.
My mother talked “Mel dear, I was about to come check you out. You took so long. Are you okay?”
I nodded my head. I noticed Xavier searching my eyes but I averted my eyes. The thought that we were mates was still messing with my brain.
I heard my father’s voice “king Xavier, we have decided to be sending out foodstuff to your kingdom every two weeks. Some will be sent out today but, in the next two weeks, Melina will come over with some people to see to the delivery of the foodstuff and that’s how it’s going to be”.
I could not have heard correctly but, I did not show any form of emotion. It was at that moment that Xavier decided to speak and trust me his deep baritone voice swept me off my feet.
“Thank you King Arthur, I really appreciate your help. I will see to it that Melina has a permanent room in my palace where she would stay anytime she comes over”.
The pronunciation of my name from his mouth did other things to my head. I wished that he could be calling me every time. My name had never sounded better.
Xavier spoke again “now that everything is settled, I will like to take my leave”. We all stood up, then he turned to me, held my hand and kissed it “Thank you for your time Princess Melina”.  I did not find my voice for a while but, when I finally did, I sounded like a croaking frog “The pleasure is all mine Alpha king”.
We all left the dining hall and the palace servants loaded their cars with bags of foodstuff. Xavier and his men got into the car when they were done. Before the cars were out of sight, I noticed Xavier’s intense gaze on me until the cars were not within the axis of my eyes anymore.
I went straight to my room because I needed to think and process everything that happened today.

Xavier’s POV
I did not want such a pure person to be my mate. I wondered how I will ever take care of her and give her all the love she deserved. I already knew her story of how she suffered before she finally overcame it and came into the limelight. How would someone like that be given to the coldest, merciless person in this life.
I was brutal, I had gone for many battles and won all of them. I had killed people mercilessly. How would she ever want to love me?
I was so exhausted by my thoughts that I fell asleep immediately.
