Chapter Twenty eight

I was sitting in my room when I heard a knock on my door. I stood up to open it and I saw that it was one of the palace servants. “yes dear, what is the matter?”, I asked. “Your highness, the king and queen request your presence at the throne room”. I nodded and told the servant I would be there shortly. I changed out of my pyjamas and packed my hair into a high ponytail.
I entered the throne room and met my parents there. I bowed my head in respect and greeted them. I did not allow the fact that I was the reincarnation of a goddess to get into my head and make me disrespect people.
My father gestured for me to have my seat and afterwards cleared his throat. “Melina, we just wanted to ask for your opinion about something. Your decision is final. We just want to notify you first”. I faced them with rapt attention as I listened to what my father had to say. “The Alpha king of the kingdom of Lycania has requested to have a meeting with us about the exportation of food into their kingdom from our own kingdom. Seems like they are running low on foodstuff”.
Lycania, I had heard about the kingdom before. It belonged to the wolves. Their king Xavier was rumoured to be an extremely ruthless person. Part of the rumours also claimed that he was just thirty years old making him the youngest king across all the kingdoms.
I snapped back to reality and decided to talk. “That Is Okay Dad. They can come over. We will be ready to host and welcome them. When would they be arriving?”, I asked my father. He told me that they should arrive in two days. I nodded, stood up and walked back to my room.
I sat in front of the mirror and started trimming my hair. I could not help but let the thoughts of Xavier fill my mind. I imagined he would be a very tall huge and ugly beast. I wondered if he was as ruthless as they claimed. I just could not wait to see him. I looked into the mirror and realised that I had spent about thirty minutes thinking about Xavier. I decided to go into the garden and clear my mind and thoughts.
As I stayed in the garden practising my powers, Nylah sneaked up behind me and whispered into my ear. I was surprised to see her in the palace as she was already married to king Shaquan’s son Damon and had two beautiful children, a boy and a girl. “Nylah! I screamed as I hugged her. I was so happy to see her because the palace had been boring without her around. Noe was another case. He had a fiancée already and he was always meeting up with her and the likes so, everywhere was pretty much boring. “My love, how are you doing? Look at you looking all fresh and beautiful”. I smiled and said “hey! stop teasing me, who is more beautiful out of the two of us?”. We burst into laughter and eventually stopped laughing after few seconds. We sat on the bench near the fountain in the middle of the garden and decided to catch up on some things. I told about all that had been happening in the palace and about Xavier and his crew that were coming over. “Nylah, I don’t even know him or anything but, I have been thinking about him all day. I think I am going crazy”. “Awww, is my baby sister falling for the big bad wolf? she teased. I rolled my eyes at her and almost hit her but she was fast enough to duck and avoid the blow. I argued with her that I was not falling for him. I assured her that I could not fall for the person who everyone has labelled as the demon himself. “I am very sure he is nothing to write home about”. We later went into the palace to greet mother and father. We spent a little time joking until Nylah decided to go home.
Later that night, I had my bath and laid on the bed. I allowed the events of the day to flood my mind. The last person I thought about before I finally drifted off to sleep was Xavier.
