MELINA

chapter Twenty five

Ashley became extremely angry. She saw that she was already losing to Melina. She created thorns with sharp bristles and made them extra-long then she sent it at Melina and wrapped it around her. People already thought that Melina was cornered, they thought she could not escape that only for them to see that she started vibrating. They could feel heat coming from her body and the thorns started burning . There were murmurs all around as they had never seen anyone who had heat powers.
When all these were happening, Olivia received news from the palace guards and they told her that they found King Arthur, his wife, Noe and Nylah in the palace roaming about. She gave them an instruction to carry out. She smiled wickedly. What she was about to do would surely give Ashley victory. As Melina proceeded to send rocks towards Ashley, she heard Olivia's voice behind her. "Do what you want to do Melina and your family will be killed one by one within the twinkle of an eye".
Melina turned and saw her family behind her chained all over. Her heart broke and she walked towards them, knelt in front of them and hugged them. "I will get you out of this I promise". Ashley saw it as an opportunity to strike. She sent ice spikes and pinned Melina's cloth to the floor. Melina was not prepared for it and as she was thinking of what to do, a big rock hit her head and blood started flowing out. She became dizzy but she was determined that she was going to win. This was her chance and she would use it right.
She touched her head and willed her healing power. Immediately the deep gash on her forehead healed up. Before Melina could do anything, Ashley sent huge balls of fire towards her. The fire gripped Melina's clothes and it started burning. The crowd went wild because they thought Melina was going to burn to death but, there was a flash of light and the smoke that surrounded Melina cleared and they saw her standing straight with a flowing white gown. She turned to Ashley with stone cold eyes. Ashley gasped when she saw that Melina's eyes changed to a bright golden color. She knew that she was screwed. First, Melina made the whole place dark and people became afraid. She imagined in her head that the chains should break from her family. When she saw that it was done, she created a protective shield around them so that no power would be able to penetrate. She then lit up the whole place afterwards. She turned to look at Ashley again.
Ashley knew that Melina was planning to do something to her with the way she was staring holes into her head. She decided to quickly make a run for it before it was too late. Melina stopped the time and everyone around her were as still as statues. She walked over to Olivia, carried her with air power and put her in the middle of the Main Square where her daughter was, she put rings of fire around them so that they would not be able to escape. She released the time and people were surprised at the sight before them. They started whispering among themselves that Melina was really powerful. Ashley noticed that when she looked into Melina's eyes earlier, she lost all the powers she acquired from drinking the potion given to her by her mother. She whispered to her mother and told her about it. Olivia knew that they were done for.
She turned to Melina and started speaking. The things she said left everyone in awe and hatred for her. "Melina, I have a lot of confessions to make. I can see that right now I cannot escape this moment so; I will talk. Before you were born, I found out you were the one the prophecy was talking about. I was so jealous and angry because, I wanted Ashley to have the powers. I tried poisoning your mother before she gave birth to you but it did not work out".
Gasps were heard all over and Queen De'arra could not even close her mouth. She did not even know that when she was carrying Melina in her womb, someone was actually planning her death.
Olivia continued "when I saw that did not work out, I waited till you were born. I was so lucky that day because your mother had just given birth so, she was weak and she slept off. The potion I gave you to drink rendered you powerless".
Noe became very angry. All he wanted to do was slap and strangle Olivia to death but he couldn't even get out because of the shield Melina put around them. He heard Olivia's voice again. "When I heard about the tournament, I knew that was the only chance I had to make my daughter ruler over the whole kingdom so, I consulted a diabolical man and he gave me a potion which gave Ashley all the powers that she had. But now, I can see that no one can tamper with the prophecy. The gods already chose you and no one can ever change it". She bowed her head and spoke again "Melina, please forgive me. I am so sorry for everything that I have ever done to you. Please, I am so sorry".
People were screaming and shouting that Melina should burn Olivia and her daughter. Melina turned to the people and spoke "I will not do anything to them. In fact, I have forgiven them unconditionally. I will not allow myself to be like them because, it pays to be good".
