- Chapter 11: Unanswerable -

About a week had passed without much of anything. The league was currently inactive as far as police could tell, officer Deva would stop by and make his rounds every morning and every night, Akihiko would say hello anytime Sunako left to get the mail, everything was calm. To Sunako, it felt as though it had all been a crazed fever dream; being abducted and all. Currently, she was pushing her guilt down inside herself and focusing on the coming day as a means of distraction.

I can't wait to go back to work tomorrow. It's not that Sunako didn't like relaxation, but the process of not doing anything productive make her antsy and having to sit a quiet home with her thoughts as her only companion wasn't desirable, not now at least. Maybe I need a new hobby. The ravenette thought to herself as she brushed her teeth, the minty white foam dribbling down her chin. An instrument maybe? Nah. I don't have the time or patience for that. Hm. What else could I do? Spitting into the porcelain sink, she rinsed her now pleasant smelling mouth and used her sleeve to dry her lips. Hideki bugs that I don't do more, but what's there to do?

Tucking some black strands behind her ear, she trailed out of the small bathroom and back into her bedroom. The sun currently illuminated the space. Officer Deva should be by soon. I wonder if he'd like tea again. It was the least Sunako could do for the inconvenience of having to essentially babysit her. Sunako stood there for a moment before spotting her book shelf out of the corner of her left eye. The sapphire eyed woman studied the books that rested atop the sturdy shelves before shuffling over.

So many sketch books. She trailed her finger tips over the worn spines. When did I ever find the time for these? Art. Sunako's slender finger stopped on a duck tape bound book. I thought I lost this one. Grabbing it, Sunako was interrupted by a knock at the front door. Setting the book back on the shelf, Sunako smoothed her clothes out and sighed.

He's earlier than usual today. Sunako unlocked the door and opened it wide to greet the already smiling officer. "You're early today." She teased with the slightest hint of a smile.

The officer laughed and averted his gaze as his smile deepened, making his dimples apparent to the world. "Well," he brought his hand up that held a small white, paper bag with pink lettering. "I thought that I'd repay the tea with donuts." His goofy smile warmed Sunako's heart.

"Donuts?" She smirked as she leaned her body weight against the door frame.

"Yeah. Why? Do you not like 'em? Because I could always-"

"No. That's not it at all." Sunako pushed herself off the door from and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Really?" He pried. "Then what is it?"

"Well, I just thought donuts went well with coffee. That's it." She replied smugly as she turned and began to make her way to the contempt kitchen. "C'mon, I've gotta do something for the officer whose been babysitting me."

He followed her in and shut the door behind himself, being mindful not to slam it. "Well, I don't really mind babysitting, 'ya know? I like kids." He joked as he use his foot to remove each of his leather work shoes. "They're cute."

Sunako grabbed two mismatched mugs from the cupboard. "Oh ha ha." She set the glass mugs aside with a clank. I hope he doesn't mind instant coffee, it's all I got. Sunako shooed her doubts away as she filled and set the coffee maker to begin brewing.
