- Chapter 19: Yaki-Udon -
Sunako wasn't able to get back to sleep after that morning's whole unpleasant ordeal and she could, in fact, feel sore, tender bruises forming on her body courtesy to Aya's impractical quirk. After patching up Shigaraki's mutilated neck, he made his way back to the room he called his for the time being.
Now, it was about five in the afternoon and Sunako relaxed on the couch, her stomach grumbled, but she knew there was no suitable food to eat in her kitchen. Never much of chef, nor had she been home this much since being hired at the hospital.
Shigaraki sat adjacent to her, eyes glued to the TV screen, occasionally wincing in pain from his side which had been healing nicer than she had expected. The news played despite her protests and she'd occasionally zone out.
Glancing between the TV and Shigaraki, she stood up and stretched with a guttural groan.
The indignant man spared her an uninterested glance before returning to the news station.
"You hungry?" Sunako questioned as she planted her hands on her hips, eyes peered down to the villain leader.
Lately, things had died down and she's been able to manage. The fear of being murdered was still very much present, but she'd feel his brainwaves coming before he did, so she figured she'd have a fighting chance if it ever came to that. Hopefully it didn't, but the league leader seemed spontaneous. And if she didn't, then she'd perish and then what? Haunt him from beyond the grave?
Shigaraki had also been a bit calmer, evident by the fact that he stopped grabbing and threatening to take her limbs away, which was generous of him. Her body still homed tension and an underlying anxiousness at the possibility of being either killed or arrested for her unwanted and un-consensual role in the villain's life. She'd surely get fired and arrested if word were to get out, but she tried her hardest to push those thoughts out of her ever so busy mind.
Shigaraki grunted in bleak response. No need for her to question him further as his brainwaves teemed. She took both signs as a 'yes'.
She heaved out a breath, knowing the response to come to her words. "Well, we have nothing to eat here and of you plan on staying any longer, then the money I have won't buy much more take out." Plus, I'm getting real sick of the same two meals... and I'm sure I've clogged my arteries enough for the rest of my life. "I need to go shopping." Sunako tried to sound firm, but she was about as firm as memory foam.
Shigaraki pulled his gaze from the television and glared at Sunako. "I thought you would've realized by now that you're not leaving doc."
She squeezed her hips at the jab. "Well, unless you want to eat tonight, I sorta have to buy groceries. And we have no toilet paper." She glared back defiantly. "If you'd like, you can come with." The unknowingly tense woman left no further room for discussion as she grabbed her keys and wallet, which only held about forty bucks, or by Japanese standards, 4,200 yen. I really need to go back to work...
"You should know better that I can't just walk about." Shigaraki hissed in annoyance. The left side of his lip tugged up, singing she had noticed he did when he got annoyed.
"Do that thing with your hood." She gestured to her head with a wave of her hand, almost like she was messing up someone's hair. "Plus, you probably need the movement. You've barely moved from that couch and if you continue to sit around, then there's no telling how your side will heal this time." She jabbed spitefully.
