Merry Christmas everyone! And if you don't celebrate Christmas, then happy holidays!

- Chapter 26: Reinstitute -

In the following days a loose routine was haphazardly established.

In the mornings Sunako would be ripped from her slumber by her best friend's heavy hitting brainwaves, whish was then followed by Aya hastily sputtering out a "goodbye", and rushing out of the house to make it to work on time. And, once she'd left for good, Sunako would sleep in a bit more if possible (though it was rare).

The ravenette's day would officially start upon greeting officer Deva. Friendly lighthearted banter and the occasional flirt or two would follow after the fact.

Sunako cherished each morning she'd spend with the young officer and every conversation that followed. She found herself enjoying the way his voice sounded on her ears, the way he'd ;augh if she made a bad joke, and how he'd blush various shades of pink and red whenever she'd compliment him. Sunako would never admit it, not in a million years, but she took her time to color code his cheeks and neck each time he'd flush. Sometimes he was more of a bubblegum color, other times it was more rosy, but usually it was a light variation of fuscia. And, on the off chance if she caught him by surprise, he'd go beat red and stumble over his words as if they were physical obstacles he had to overcome. The officer would follow up with mumbled apologies regarding the stutter, and she'd flash his an earnest smile.

She found it both charming and endearing knowing her words had such an impact. His brainwaves were even more delightful in comparison, which often left her wondering just what her's felt like in those moments as well. Sunako often got curious when it came to the ins and outs of quirks and how they functioned and what not, her own was no exception. However, she'd always brush that thought aside because there was no use dwelling on it (she was no genius or quirkoligist after all).

Then, night would roll around. Aya would come home from would and order the both of them take out of some sort, and they'd eat together as the TV played something or another. Nine o'clock would soon roll around and so would officer Deva to make his rounds, which queued Aya's flirtatious nature tenfold. Deva was equal parts flattered and bashful all while being less than receptive to her coquettish advances.

And, once he'd take off for the night, Aya would lock up the house and obstinately question whether he really just was not getting it or if he was, in all actuality, gay. She decided on the latter and cursed all existing Gods for making all the attractive men homosexual. Because, after all, Aya (in her words) was "getting old" and "needed someone". As if twenty-four was considered ancient and her pretty face would vanish at a moments notice.

In response, Sunako would frivolously roll her eyes each time with an added verbal jab at just how old she was. Aya's response was always less enthusiastic than the last as if she were slowly starting to believe her best friend's teasing and Sunako would quickly goat out a playful laugh as if saying, "Wow, you really believed me?". And, in return, the caramel skinned woman would punch her in the arm with an added glare that could easily put Endeavor's to shame. Her brainwaves were no better, but Sunako took it all in fatuous stride. After all, Aya's brainwaves were always heavy hitting, but not in a bad way. Much like her quirk.

Sometimes Aya would hang around for a bit longer after the officer had left, but usually she'd head off to bed for the night, leaving Sunako to herself and her thoughts.

Some nights her brother would call and sometimes she'd answer if she was in more need of a distraction than the other times when she didn't answer. The conversations were, for the most part, short and sweet, with the added back ground noise of Leighton whining about how he also wanted to talk to her. It left her wondering why the blonde never contacted her on his phone. Maybe it was the principle of it all. Who knows.
