- Chapter 29: Ancient -
200,000 years is a hell of a long time to be alive. Nations divide, wars wage, loved ones die, and cities fall, but time will always carry on. Never slowing down for anyone, well, most of everyone and Eliaster knew that better than most.
Spain with its bustling streets, tourist traps, vendors, rich cuisine, beautiful people, deep rooted heritage, and then there was Eliaster. A ways away from the vast Sahara or what he would recall as his original homing point. 250,000 years would leave anyone's memory a bit jumbled, but he'd surmise as he always did. Dwelling on it wouldn't make a bit if a difference.
Clad in a rich vermilion tunic, the (damn near) ancient male propped himself against the side of an equally archaic building. His nostrils flared as he drew in a deep breath, the air warm.
I wonder if there's a place that serves ice cream near here... The sand colored male wondered to himself. The thought of the cooling sweet treat made his mouth water in anticipation. Shaved ice is okay too, but not the same. May as well eat a snow cone.
Batting some white hair from his face, he exhaled as be resumed his people watching. A pass time anyone could enjoy, especially for those who watched current day society evolve into what it was.
With a sigh, the shorter man pushed himself off the building and stretched. The temperature was mild to say the least, eighty degrees max and dry. The occasional breeze would sweep past the tunic clad man, brushing his long silk like hair to the side (or into his face on occasion).
May as well get a move on before it gets more crowded. With a roll of his neck, Eliaster sauntered onto the roadway, walking with no particular destination in mind. His feet would take him where they wanted.
"Excuse me, sir?" Came a young woman's voice, accompanied by a gentle hand on his shoulder.
Eliaster spun on his heel, his leather shoes crunching the dirt and gravel that had been kicked up. He smiled. "How may I help you miss?"
She wasn't anything too out of the ordinary (at least not out of the ordinary for a person who watched quirks develop into what they are now). She was blonde with sun-kissed skin, a man at her side who had assumed was her husband. His ancient heart ached at the memories the duo surfaced in him, but he smiled fondly despite the fact.
"Uh, yes. I was just wondering," The young woman plucked a crudely folded map from her back pocket. "Could you please direct us to the guided tour? We haven't been able to find it."
Eliaster took the map from one of the blonde and scanned over it for a few moments, occasionally glancing over the glossy paper to admire the taller woman's clearly quirk. It always would fascinate him no matter how many centuries he'd spent on Earth.
He folded the map properly before gingerly handing it back to the woman and her partner. "Take a left at the next street and you should see the bus." Eliaster folded his thin arms behind his back, his fingertips finding the ends of his hair. "The bus should be pretty easy to spot. It'll be red."
The woman's three eyes lit up in wonder as she clasped her four hands together jovially. "Thank you so much Mister!"
And with that the couple was off and Eliaster went on his way, dipping in and out through the crowds of people before stumbling across a small ice cream shop.
