Eleven: Are we even?

"Wow, I did not expect this to be this serious." Earth told himself as he watches the other couple.

My mother sent us an invitation a week ago to their annual "Couple Vacation". It is an event organized by our mothers in which they invite the sons or daughters of their friends, together with their partners, to a weekend getaway.

Earth insisted for us to go because he thinks that it is the time for us to show our parents that we are engaged and in love.

The look on his face obviously tells that he is surprised to see the other couples. We know most of them, we've seen them in parties our parents organized. Some even went to school with us. It is apparent that all the other invited couples are hetero couples.

"Should we go home?" I asked him. He looked at me and the determination in his eyes is too obvious not to notice.

"No, Phi, this is the perfect opportunity." He said as his smile widened from ear to ear.

"Finally, you are here!" It's Earth's mom. Everyone looked at us.

"Mom!" Earth said enthusiastically as he approached his mother to hug her. It still amazes me how he can change so easily, from the whiny Earth to happy Earth.

"I'm glad you two made it. Thank you Kao for coming with my baby." His mother told me as she greets me with a hug.

I just responded with a smile.

"Okay, okay, let's go inside the bus now. We're about to go."

Earth decided to seat at the center of the bus. He sat nearest the window because he usually loves looking at the view. But we're having a night trip so he can't see that much. He's frowning as he thinks of something deeply.

"What's the matter?" I asked him. He looked at me. By now, he is used to me asking that when he is quite silent for a long time.

"I'm thinking what should I be doing for the next few hours." He looked so serious, I wanted to laugh at him. "P'Kao, don't you dare laugh at me." He said as if he read my mind.

"Why don't you sleep?" I suggested.

"Sleep is for the weak." He said with determination in his eyes. This kid is kinda weird, really.

"Then what do you want to do?" I asked.

"I don't know." Now he starts sulking.

I took out my phone and put one of the earphones on his ear.

"Listen, one of my favorite bands has a new release." I told him.

"Oh, wow, those base line!...waaaah, the drum beat is nice...wow wow the guitar solo is so gooood." He commented as we listen to the song. "But...don't you think it's too loud?" He said after the song. This implies that he wants to listen to other songs.

"What do you want to listen to?" I asked him. His face brightened.

"I want Twice." He immediately said.

"No." I replied immediately.

"Whyyyy?"

"Just, no."

Earth frowned. He fell silent for a few minutes.

"Fine, Day6 it is." He grabbed my phone and looked for Day6 songs. The first song he played is How to Love from their The Book of Us: Gravity album.

"Phi, if you will dedicate a Day6 song for me, what would it be?" He asked suddenly.

"Must be How Can I say." I said to tease him. I saw him frowned.
