It's the first day of my second year in college and the first thing that welcomed me is Mild's complaints. He's complaining about the fried eggs he ate this morning. He keeps telling me that they tasted like charcoal, apparently, it's burnt. I'm wondering if he already tasted a charcoal to compare it to the eggs he ate.

Anyways, I can tolerate Mild's whining. I'm so used to it. Who wouldn't if you've been classmates with him since high school, right? I met Mild when I was in second year high school. He's the type of person who will talk to you about anything that comes to his mind. I can still remember the first thing he said to me, "Do you think I can drink wine as an alternative to energy drink? I mean, can I drink it after exercising? Do you think I will get drunk easily?" He asked me that while we were doing pushups during our P.E. class. I just gave him a what-the-heck-are-you-talking-about look. I thought he only talked to me because I was the closest person at that time but no, after that P.E. class, he started asking me questions on a daily basis, until we ended up being friends and best friends.

We're now at the cafeteria because he said he wanted to eat eggs that aren't burnt. He said he wanted to forget the bad memories of the burnt eggs. I accompanied him because we still have lots of time before our first class.

"Fluke," Mild said while eating.

"Yes?" I asked him while I continue on browsing his portfolio. He said he wanted to audition for some show or something similar to that.

"Will you not answer your phone?" He almost choked. He never learned not to talk while chewing his food.

I looked at my phone. It's P'Gun.

"Yes, Phi?"

"Flukeeee, what took you so long to answer?" P'Gun asked me in his usual sweet tone. He has always have this sweetness in his voice. I never heard him shout or scold. Even when I was a freshman, he has always been calm.

"Sorry Phi, I was reading and my phone is on silent mode."

"It's okay, it's okay."

"What's the matter Phi? Why did you call me this early?"

"You are the secretary of your batch year, right?"

"Yes, Phi. Why?"

"Okay, okay. Inform all your batchmates to gather at the Arts auditorium at 10am. We have something to announce."

"How about those who have classes, Phi?"

"It's okay, we already got the permission from the professors. I'll see you later, okay?Bye!"

"What would they announce that they even asked permission from the professors?" I asked myself. And I think I said it loudly that Mild began asking me what am I talking about. I just told him what I know and proceeded with informing everyone to gather at 10am.

I think I did a good job. Almost 90 percent showed up.

The seniors were preparing for the event, they were able to set up the sound system.

P'Sing went up the stage. He is the president of the Arts College student government. He is now in his 4th year.

"Good morning, everyone. Thank you for coming even with a short notice." He smiled. I heard some girls near me giggle. I kinda understand them, P'Sing is charismatic. "I will make this quick so that your own Department can start as well. This year, the university student government decided to have a Mentor-Mentee competition. This will be a university-wide competion in which the winner will be the most compatible mentor-mentee tandem. The price for the winners will be a trip to our mother school in Europe, and of course, that also means vacation. You and your mentee will be given the whole year to get to know each other, help each  other, and become close to win. Every quarter, there will be elimination rounds."
