A: The First Friday

It has been weeks since my vacation with Secretary Na, everyone in the house still wants me to talk about everything that happened. They're expecting some sort of a movie-like happening but nothing sort of happened. Secretary Na enjoyed his vacation, spending most of the time cooking. He was the one in charged on cooking. Even snacks, he was the one to prepare all of those. If he is not cooking, he's reading. At night, if we're not outside, he's watching Korean variety shows or dramas. As for me, I spent most of the time reading. I get to finish five novels. If I'm not reading, I'm making some drinks or sleeping.

I think the people in my house are expecting me and Secretary Na to develop feelings for each other and come back home holding hands. That didn't happen, of course. I'm the type who doesn't fall for someone instantly. To be honest, I only get to realize that I like someone when I've completely fell for that person. Like what I told Kao before, I tend to be a bit dense when it comes to how I feel.

But if there is something that I brought home frok that vacation, it's our friendship. I now see him as a friend rather than just the Chairman's secretary. We got closer that sometimes I get random messages from him asking me if I've eaten already or just simply asking me how my day was. We sometimes wee in school but in his office because he said he isn't that much confortable when people look at him. I often joked that how can people not look at him if he is that good looking. He just laughs shyly. Anyways, I think I don't want ro be seen with him either. A lot of people in my faculty and in the research center like him. And I know that they are capable of doing something to anyone who gets close to Secretary Na.

It's the first Thursday of the month and the Dean of our faculty decided to have a get together. It's the long overdue welcome party for us newbies. We held the get together at one of Gulf's family restaurant. The research team was also invited to the event, so August is here. Ever since I came back from the vacation, I never paid any attention to him because what's the point, right? Anyways, based on what Mew has been telling me, he seems fine and happy with his married life.

So, the bosses are sitting in one table while the rest of us sat in a long table. We're short of one chair, and I happen to be the one who didn't have a chair so we pull an extra table for me. It's a few inches away from the long table. It may make me look like a loner but I love the space. Anyways, I'm just here to eat, not to socialize. I have accepted the fact that I will not be in one of the circles in this faculty. They already have full membership. No more space for me. And it's fine. I couldn't care less.

Everyone is happy chatting. Some are sharing stories about their college live, some are talking about their students. Some were listening, some just reacting. The table of the bosses looks gloomy, they seem to be discussing something serious. Eveb August looks serious.

The buzz suddenly stopped. Someone must have stepped in because I heard the waiter greet someone.

"Oh my goodness! Is that Secretary Na?" I heard someone said. "What is he doing  here? Oh god, he looks dashing!"

"Hey Hera, didn't you say you are close to him? Like you know each other?" Another one said.

I looked at Hera's direction and I saw her nod. Oh, so they're close. I haven't seen them interact tho. But then, Secretary Na doesn't go out from his office.

"Hurry, say him and introduce us." Said another faculty. Here nodded.

Secretary Na went to the bosses' table first  greeted them and maybe told them he will join the long table since there is no space for him anyone at their table. So, he is now approaching. Hera stood up, she looked shy. How interesting. I saw Secretary Na's gaze focused on her. He might really know her.

"Hello, P'Na." She said shyly but made sure P'Na was loud enough for us all to hear.

Secretary Na stopped and smiled. "Hello Hera. It's good to see you here." Hera shyly nodded. "Will your brother pick you up later?" Hera nodded again. "Great. I'll see you around." And he left her as he continue to walk.
