XIX. I'm Sorry

Mew was looking for a good opportunity to talk to Apple. She hasn't talked to him since that day she got angry at her. When she needs to say something to him, she askes Fluke to relay the message.

Mew woke up at 4am because he knows that his friend wakes up early and this is the only time he will get the chance to talk to her alone.

When he got down, Apple is already in the kitchen brewing some coffee. Mew sat at his usual spot at the dinning table and watched Apple.

Surprisingly Apple brought with her two cups of coffee to the dinning table. She handed the other cup to Mew.

Mew was surprised. "Why do you even look surprised?" Apple asked, then goes on to take a sip from her cup.

"I thought you will still ignore me." Mew explained.

Apple giggled. "Yeah, I should. But you woke up this early to talk to me, right? I better accommodate you for your efforts." Apple answered. Both smiled because they both know that on a regular basis, Mew will wake up around almost lunch time.

Silence. It was a long silence. Apple was looking outside through the glass wall. Mew was looking at her, gathering all the courage to talk about what happened.

"I already talked to Mark." Mew began.

"I know." Apple said without looking at him.

"He already explained to me why he did that."

"And you've forgiven him?" Mew was a bit surprised with Apple's question that he was not to answer immediately. "That's good then." Apple faced Mew. "But have you forgiven yourself?"

Mew smiled and nodded. Apple took a sip feom her cup. "That's good then."

She did not say a word anymore.

"I'm sorry for everything, for all the pain and suffering I've caused you. I would like to say I didn't mean to, but I was so selfish that I did not consider how you will feel about it." Mew explained.

Apple nodded but did not say anything.

"I thought that by being silent, I will be able to protect all of us. Back then, I was genuinely in love with him that I tried to protect him because I don't want him to get hurt. The second time I left, it was to distance Gulf from the issues I had." Mew further explained.

Apple nodded. "You were really a bit selfish there, and I glad you finally got it." She took a deep breath. "Yoh know what, it was so frustrating because you just do what you want leavinvmg us all clueless of what's going on. While you are the only one who can heal yourself, we want to support you, but with what you did, it's like we're trying to help you in the dark not knowing where you are, which part is in pain. And it didn't only happened once, it happened twice and almost trice."

"I'm sorry." That's all what Mew can say at that moment.

"You know, Mew, if there is one thing I learned in this life, it's true that we are the only one who can face our battles, but it really helps when we have other people to give us support and encouragement. We're already here for you for years, do not deprive yourself of the benefits of our friendship. We may not give you the world, but we will try our best to help you achieve whatever it is you want to achieve."

Mew stood up and went to hug Apple.

"Thank you for always being there for me." Mew said.

"Yah! Stay away from me. This is to much for me to handle." Apple said.

Mew laughed because this is the Apple that she knows.

"I was just showing my appreciation." Mew said pouting.
