"Has anyone seen Taeyong anywhere?" Yelling from one specific person could be heard down the hall as it approached the living room. It almost sounded like they had been running around.
I was sat curled up into Taeyong on the couch, since he insisted that he needed cuddles with his favorite child. Jaehyun didn't protest and just let him be, while Chenle and Jisung argued about why they were supposed to be his favorite children. I smiled smugly at them, as a joke.
"Taeyong!" A wild Lucas finally appears in front of us.
I hear Taeyong sigh almost like he was disappointed. This made me giggle.
"Okay, hear me out-"
"No." Taeyong doesn't even hesitate to answer.
"Wow, okay I'm hurt. Anyways, what if, and hear me out here, we get a cat." Lucas smiles brightly at Taeyong to get him to agree and eyebrows raised as if to say 'that would be great, right?'
I look up at Taeyong, who was biting at his lip in thought. He opens his mouth to say something, but then closes it, pursing his lips in the process.
"Maybe."
That sets off Lucas into a fit of excited giggles and shouts, running away to another room.
I've come to realize that with Taeyong, there was no 'maybe' only ever 'yes' or 'no'. So, this could mean that he was okay with getting a cat. I don't think I've ever seen any real animals before, only through videos.
"Can we get a cat?" I look up at Taeyong. He looks down at me with an eyebrow raised, but a soft look planted on his face.
"Not you, too." He chuckled. "I have to think about it first." I only simply nod.
"I've never seen a cat in real life, or any animals really." I tell him.
A surprised look takes over his face. "Wait, really? Well, we should fix that."
"Taeyong, Taeil found something. He just texted me to meet at your office." Jaehyun announces while getting up from the other couch. "Uh, bring Haechan."
My heart started beating quickly, the last time I was brought to his office Taeyong confronted me about my name change. We came a long way in such a short amount of time, but that doesn't mean I won't get anxious about being in his office. That's where the gang stuff happens.
"Taeil, what did you find?" Taeyong asks as soon as we enter the room. I felt out of place as I stood next to the wall, why was I even called to come here?
"Haechan, come sit down. You need to help us with this. This mission is for you."
I shakily make my way over to one of the office chairs and sit down.
Taeil begins speaking once he has my attention. "I've started planning for the take down of that lab and their gang. I wanted to show you everything I've gathered, information wise. They have a warehouse and a safe house in the town over. Coincidentally, they are on the same street. I've asked Renjun and Jaemin to help me hack into their camera system."
Jaehyun interrupts Taeil for a moment. "Why do they even have cameras to begin with? Are they stupid? Those are the easiest to hack into."
A memory pops into my head of one of my conversations with Jaebum back when we would have our game nights before I would sleep. Jaebum had told me something about how they were installing more cameras than they already had for protection and safety because my dad didn't trust anyone that worked for him. "Dad loves cameras. That was his way of having control. He has his eyes on everything that goes on. One small thing that seems out of place, and he immediately gets rid of it. Whether it was an employee acting odd or machinery wasn't up to his standards."
The three of them looked at me, the gears of thought spinning in their heads.
"He's right. I've been watching things through his eyes pretty much and I'd notice that new people would show up and a lot of stuff got rearranged, but I thought it was just rotation. That makes sense, though."
A feeling of pride passes through me. I'm important to this mission. I'm going to take him down after everything he put me through.
