"Here we are! My humble abode. Make sure to take your shoes off and if you want a snack, kitchen is to the right. It's kinda small here so it'll be hard to get lost." Yeri admires her house as she speaks about it before turning back to Haechan. She notices how timid he looks, it reminded her of herself when she first got out into the real world.
"Hey, it's okay. This is a safe zone, I promise. We're in the middle of a huge city and also we both have kick ass powers so nothing can stop us." She laughs, as she makes her way to where Haechan assumes is the living room.
She was right, it was a small place. It was only a ten second walk to the living room from the front door. He didn't mind that though, compared to not knowing his way around the gang's mansion.
A thought pops into his head and he decides to find out some things from Yeri, as soon as he was seated on the couch. "What kind of powers do you have?" Haechan began.
"I teleport like you, but I also have augmented senses which was how I was able to find you in this large, loud city. By the way, you are really quiet. I would not have been able to find you if it hadn't been for your irregular heart beat," Yeri explains, while trying to find something to watch on the tv.
It was weird how normal everything seemed and felt. Haechan went from an exhausting gang mission to sitting on the couch with a friend of a friend talking so casually about superpowers.
"Wait, I have an irregular heartbeat?" Haechan asks, after a moment of taking in the new information. Once she found a show that satisfied herself, Yeri responds. "Yeah, our hearts pump blood half a beat slower than a normal human's heart. It's just how our bodies work."
Haechan was intrigued by this new information. He never really paid attention to his heart beat that closely. Wait, and if Kun had taken care of him so many times he had to have heard his heart at some point, but why didn't he say anything? He guessed that Kun already knew since he was friends with Yeri.
"Tell me about you and Kun. How do you know him?" Haechan decides to ask another question. He realized, after asking, how demanding he sounded, but judging by how unfazed Yeri was without looking away from the tv, he figured it was okay. "We go way back. He's one of the closest people to me."
Haechan tried imagining a small Yeri running around a small Kun and it made him giggle to himself with how silly it looked in his head. Maybe Kun really did know so much about how Haechan is because he grew up with his friend like that.
"I was brought into the lab world when I was around 3, maybe 4 years old. My parents weren't doing the best financially and they hated not being able to have money so they sold me away. If I'm not mistaken, Kun said you were just a bit younger than me when you were taken as well?" Haechan nods to her answer and she continues on with her story.
"So, we were brought to labs about the same time. There was actually a race in South Korea and some surrounding Asian countries to see who could discover superhuman abilities first and who's test subject would be the strongest. Only a few labs achieved results and that produced us. I know for a fact there are others floating around this planet and that's why I've decided to dedicate my life to finding as many of them as I can. I want them to know that we aren't alone in this and we can fight back the system. They don't get to have control over us."
Yeri was fuming after her speech, but she was proud. They had taken so much from her and she didn't want anyone else to have to suffer from these monsters. Innocent children were broken in the process, whether they received results with their project or not.
There were news articles after news articles that Yeri could remember, talking about children's deaths at the hands of all of these labs. She hated it.
"Kun was the son of one of the lab workers and he would go with his dad to work a lot. We became best friends really fast. His dad was actually the one to help me escape out of there. Unfortunately, he lost his life for it. Then, Kun's mom took me into her house and pretty much adopted me off the records. I was illegal and she still loved me like one of her own." The nostalgia filled the girl up as she remembered her life not too long ago. She couldn't have been more grateful for everything her mom had done for her, as well as everything Kun did for her.
Haechan was in awe. He also felt relieved that there really was someone like him. It made him want to really improve his powers so he can fight back the lab that imprisoned him.
"So, anyways, it's been a long day. Let's rest up and then tomorrow, I can show you around the city. This place is energizing during the day."
