12: our life stories

Cherrys POV
Shawn and I were laying in my bed and I was curled up under all my blankets. I lied there, staring at my wall. Thinking about where my mom could be, if she ever really cared about me. I guess I sniffled a bit because Shawn turned towards me. "Are you ok?" He asked. "I don't know." I said. "Hey, you know you can talk to me, we might've only known eachother for a day, but it feels like forever, talk. To. Me." He said. I laughed, and turned around to face him. "You know how Cory asked where my mom was?" I asked. "Yeah?" "She's gone, i don't know where she is, she just up and left one day in the middle of my 8th grade year. She gave me this ring the day before she left. Her last name was Li, L-I, not L-e-e, she was asian, so that makes me that. Anyways, I don't know why she left, she just did, didn't even say goodbye, didn't tell me she loved me, just gave me the ring, and the next day she was gone." By this point, I was crying a little bit. He wiped my tear and kissed my forehead. I just laughed a little bit. "How about you? What's your story?" I asked him.

Shawn's POV
"How about you? What's your story?" She asked after telling me hers. "Well, we are a lot more similar than you'd think." I said. "What do you mean?" She asked. "I mean, your not the only one with just a dad." I said. "Oh, do you wanna tell me about it? You don't have to.." She said. I really respected her for saying I didn't have to tell her, but for some odd reason, I trusted her like I trusted Cory. "Well, in seventh grade, my mom bolted, then my dad left me for an entire year to go find her, first I lived with Cory, then I lived with Mr Turner. After my dad came back without my mom, he tried his best to be a good dad. Then one day I saw my mom through the window, at the motel across the highway. Eventually, Cory convinced her to come back. She came back and she stayed until summer. Then she left again. Haven't seen her since, my dad almost left to look for her again, and it took me a week to get him to stay. I guess that's what I get for being a player, lousy parents." I said. "Hey, you might be a player, but that's ok, haven't seen you get with a girl all day." She smiled at me. I just smiled back. She looked at her watch on the bedside table. "Shawnie, it's 4 am, we should go to sleep." She laughed. "Ok, you my best friend?" I said mocking her. "Yeah." She giggled. I held out my pinky. "Promise." I started laughing. "I promise." She said and hooked our pinkies. i kissed her cheek and laughed. Then for maybe the first time in 3 months, I slept peacefully.
