Matthew Knight's PoV

We meet up with Elizabeth and she asks "What should we do?"
I tell her "I'm not sure."
She turns towards Mason and asks "Are you going to introduce me to your friend?"
Mason holds out his hand and shakes her hand. He tells her "I'm Mason Foster. And you're name is?"
"Elizabeth Miller. I just moved here a couple weeks ago. I haven't seen you around before."
"I was out of town. I just got back yesterday. You would probably see me working at the bookstore combined with a coffee store."
"You work there?"
"Yep."
"How old are you?"
"I'm twenty four."
"I would've thought you would be somewhere else. Gotten your major and be traveling or doing something else."
He shrugs his shoulders and tells her "I decided to stay here. I like living in a small town. And I live with some of my friends."
"Where do you live?"
"In town."
"So...what's on your camera?"
"I'm not really sure. It's been a while since I've used it."
"Can we see your pictures?"
"Only if you promise to show us some of yours."
She smiles and tells him "that's a deal."
Mason turns his camera on then we start looking through his pictures. Luckily there aren't any pictures of the wolves. Just nature, wild animals, and people. There's also a lot of pictures of Crystal. She probably didn't know he was taking pictures of her. He stops at a group picture. There's so many people. Elizabeth asks him "who are those people?"
He tells her "friends and family. There's me...Morgan.... Johnny....Matt....Crystal.... Annie....Zoe....Liam...."
He continues pointing at people and naming them. When he finishes she tells him "You live on the private property."
He asks "How did you know?"
"I recognize some of those people by there pictures. Liam owns the private property. And you live with him?"
"Yeah I do. Crystal and Morgan live there too."
"Does anyone else live there?"
"Some of the other people in the picture did for a while. They don't stay for too long."
I can tell he is telling the truth. I know they all lived there for a while even though he only said some. I'm guessing some of them are the people who moved away. Others might be stuck in wolf form forever. It's people of various ages in the picture. She asks him "Why do you own a portion of the woods? No one else in town does."
Mason looks at me. She's being nosey. He turns back to her and tells her "Liam likes to preserve the woods. He doesn't want it all taken down when people want to expand. We also go camping in our woods. It's safer and better then always sleeping in our house."
"How is it safer?"
"What do you mean?"
"How is it safer to camp in your woods?"
"Hunters can't hunt in our woods. That's why we have signs everywhere. That way we can't get shot while camping."
"But what about the wolves?"
"What about them?"
"They love going into your private property. Why don't you build a fence?"
"Liam doesn't want a fence built. And we are careful with the wolves. We have ways to chase them away."
I ask her "can we see some of your pictures?"
She nods and we start looking through her photos. There's a lot from the woods we are in right now. Eventually it gets to pictures of her and Zoe. She tells us "That's a photoshoot. For a school project."
We continue looking until it gets to a picture of a wolf. She pulls her camera away hoping we didn't see that. Mason looks at me. I can tell he's worried. I ask her "Was that...a wolf?"
"Nope."
"It was. I saw it."
She sighs and tells us "Alright it is. My first day here after school I drove over here and took pictures. I trailed off the path and continued taking pictures. I saw a pack of wolves. They were all running and not caring I was nearby. They ran into the private property. I continued taking pictures of them when a tan wolf started growling at me. It wasn't like any of the other wolves. It seemed like it was protecting them. I ran away and back to my car. That scared me. I...keep coming to try and take pictures of the wolves. My dad doesn't know I have pictures of them. I don't want him to kill them. Hunting is his hobby. He's out basically every day now hunting them. He came home this morning ticked off about it. He told me and my mom he would've killed a wolf if someone didn't get in his way."
She turns towards me and tells me "He said it was you. He doesn't want me to date you. He just wants me to become your friend and learn what you know about the wolves because you protected them. But I don't want him to kill the wolves. I won't tell him anything."
Me and Mason look towards each other. He is not happy. She knows more then she should and her dad does too. He grabs his camera and makes it look like he's taking pictures. I can tell he's taking deep breathes to calm himself down. His pack is in danger and that's making him upset. Elizabeth asks me "Is he ok?"
I tell her "yeah. He's just stressed because his sister isn't feeling good."
"He has a sister?"
"Kind of...it's hard to explain."
"I'm willing to listen."
"You know Morgan?"
"He mentioned someone named Morgan."
"When Morgan was fourteen her parents were killed. Liam took her in. He became friends with Mason and he moved in with them. Mason and Morgan have a brother sister relationship."
"That has to be hard losing your parents. I hope she's alright."
"Yeah. She's just been sick."
Mason gets a phonecall and he answers it. I hear him ask "Is she alright?"
I see him tense then say "I'll be right there."
He hangs up and tells us "I have to go. Can you give Matthew a ride later?"
She tells him "Sure."
He nods then quickly rushes back to his car. Elizabeth asks "What should we do now?"
I shrug my shoulders and tell her "I'm not sure."
"Wanna get something that eat?"
Our stomachs both start growling when she says that. We both laugh and she tells me "We can go get something to eat."
I feel my pockets and realize I only grabbed my phone. I don't have my wallet. She looks at me and asks "You don't have your wallet?"
I shake my head no. She smiles and tells me "I can pay for both of us."
"You don't have to."
"Can't I do something nice for my friend?"
"I'll pay you back later."
"If you really want to."
We head back to her car while talking. I talk about what it's like to live in a small town all my life. She talks about the different places she's lived in. We also talk about places we've vacationed at.
