Chapter 23: The Hospital

Matthew Knight's PoV

I drive to the hospital and head inside. There's some people waiting to get seen and the hospital workers. One of them asks "What are your symptoms?"
I tell her "I'm just here to see my mom."
"What?"
"My mom's a doctor that works here."
"Ohhh. You can head down that hallway to the break room. She might be in there, if not then come back here and I'll page her."
I thank the lady then head down the hallway. I make sure she's not watching me. I go into the break room. I sneak back out and grab hospital scrubs. I put them on over my clothes and start walking around. I try my best to blend in. I start looking around for medicine that can help Mason and try not to look suspicious.

I've walked around the whole hospital and I haven't found the medicine. It's probably in a private room. I'm about to go look when I get a phonecall. I quickly hide and answer it. Zoe asks "Did you find it yet?"
"No, not yet. I'm looking. How's Mason doing?"
"He's getting worse. Elizabeth called and said she heard her dad say it's the newest poison. The numbers are... 2057682."
I grab a paper and rip it. I grab a pen and write while repeating "2057..."
She tells me "682."
I write and repeat "6...8...2...it's 2057682?"
"Yep. Please hurry! He just collapsed on the ground unconscious."
I tell her "I will."
We hang up then I hide my phone in my scrubs. I walk out of my hiding spot, hiding my paper with the code. When no one is watching I rush into a private area. I manage to find the medicine area my first try. Well...my first try going into a private area. I start looking around for the correct area. I'm walking around the whole storage room and I can't find the posion medicine anywhere. I jump when I hear someone ask "need any help?"
I look to see a nurse standing there. I tell her "Yeah... I'm...uh looking for medicine to cure poison."
"You're in the wrong room. I can show you."
"Thanks."
I follow her down the hallway and into another private access room. It's filled with more medicine. She tells me "This room has our more expensive medicine. Can you find the medicine on your own or do you need more help?"
"I think I'm good."
She smiles then leaves the room. I walk around until I find the right medicine area. I look around to make sure no one else is in here and there aren't any hidden cameras. I'm still careful when I grab the right medicine and put it in my pockets. I grab a bottle to cure Mason and a second one for the wolves. After hiding the medicine I head out and back to the room I put the scrubs on. I take them off and when no one's looking I hide them and walk back out into the hallway. I make sure the bottles are hidden in my pockets. I walk down past the lobby and see my mom inside. I go inside and say "I need a doctor."
My mom and the couple other people look up surprised. My mom gets up and hugs me. She asks "What are you doing here so early in the morning?"
I shrug and tell her "I couldn't sleep."
"So you decided to come visit me instead of text your friends?"
I shrug again. I tell her "I barely see you at home so I thought I'd stop by and say hi."
"Well I'll be home more often in a couple days. You're dad comes back in town then."
I'm about to ask her something else when the alarm goes off. Someone's crashing. She tells me "Go home. I'll text you later."
I nod and then leave. I manage to escape the hospital without any problems because of the alarm.

I drive back to the house and park it on the driveway. I turn it off then rush inside. Morgan and Zoe are trying to help Mason. He's unconscious on the floor. I quickly rush over to the kitchen and get the right amount needed to help. With the spoon and medicine I quickly walk over to Mason. I pour some of the liquid medicine into the spoon then put it in his mouth. Morgan grabs his wolf head and turns it. She's forcing him to drink it. She keeps holding his head while I slowly pour more medicine into his mouth. Normally medicine used to help poison victims goes through a iv tube. We don't have one so I'm improvising. Morgan tells him "Please wake up."
After using a quarter of the bottle Mason finally wakes up. Using a quarter is too much but it helped him. I move the bottle away and close it. I set it down away from him. We are all looking at him in surprise. We don't do anything until he starts whimpering in pain. Morgan tells us "He might end up changing. That's not going to help him."
Zoe yells "Mason! Don't change! It will cause the pain to get worse. Matthew can try and find something to help with the pain."
Mason's whimpers slowly get more quiet. I get up and start looking around the house for pain medicine. Morgan gets up to help me.

After searching the kitchen and all the bathrooms we finally found pain medicine. It was in Liam's bathroom. Why would it be in his bathroom? I don't understand that and Morgan didn't either. We quickly rush back downstairs and give the medicine to Mason. When the medicine kicks in his whimpering is gone. I give small doses of medicine to the wild wolves. It doesn't seem to bother them. Morgan is talking to Mason and I pull Zoe away into Liam's office. She tells me "We talked to Elizabeth on speaker for a while. She got the information for us."
"That's good. Do you know where the pain medicine was at?"
"No. I'm surprised they had any pain medicine. They don't usually have pain medicine because they can heal themselves. Werewolves rarely ever get sick or need medicine. I know they have basic medicine in the bathrooms for show if they have people over. Where was the pain medicine?"
"In Liam's bathroom."
"What?"
"Yeah it was. Why would he have it?"
"I'm not sure. We could ask him. But that won't be for a couple months at least."
I head out of the office and Zoe follows me. I look at all the space heaters and I get an idea. I ask Zoe "How warm would it have to be for Crystal or Liam to change into human form?"
"I'm not sure, why?"
"I want to talk with Liam."
Zoe stops in her tracks and asks "What?! Why!"
I stop and tell her "So we can find out why he had pain medicine in his bathroom. And also what we should do with the hunter problem. I'm assuming he's the best one to ask. Because what I've heard from Mason, he's the leader and the oldest that still lives here."
"But...changing him? Do you know how painful it is for them? It's even more painful when they change for a short time then go back."
"Maybe that's why he has the pain medicine. But...I still want to talk to him. I'll do it with or without your help."
"You don't know which wolf he is."
"I'll figure it out. There's only two of them who can still change. Are you going to help me?"
She sighs and tells me "I will after Mason is healed. We need to worry about healing him and making sure the pack...or packs are safe before torturing Liam."
