Chapter 7: Choosing

Zoe Arnolds PoV

After Mason finally agreed to let me bite someone I quickly rush out of the house. I take my clothes off and change into my wolf before running to check on the pack. I see that they are safely hidden in a cave that Liam and Mason built. It looks like a real cave, not one they made. I look and almost all of the wolves are sleeping. There are a couple of them that are looking out for the pack. I'm surprised when I see a couple baby wolves sleeping by the other Wolves. When did that happen? Now we really need help protecting them. I run around the woods, thinking about who I should bite. How hard should I bite them? I've never done this before. I don't want to badly hurt them. Eventually it's dark outside and I'm about to head back to the pack when I smell someone nearby. I follow the scent until to my surprise, I see Matthew Knight walking around. What's he doing out here this late? It's dark outside. And do I smell... alcohol? Should I bite him? He's a social butterfly. There's no way he could change and become quiet. But he's here. It's like I was meant to bite him. I slowly start walking closer to him. Should I bite him? I slowly get closer to him until I'm less then a foot away. I can almost touch him. He starts moving away, fear in his eyes. He turns to leave but only makes it a couple steps until he falls down. I'm guessing it's the alcohol. Can alcohol effect the bite? Now I'm not sure. I wish Liam was here so I could ask him. Why is it that when we need him the most he isn't here?

I'm surprised when I don't see him continue to run away. He reaches his hand out to me. I slowly and hesitantly move closer to him. I move my head against his hand. He slowly starts petting me. His touch feels good. He tells me "You aren't like a normal wolf, are you?"
I tense when he says that. Is it the alcohol making him speak or does he know? Now I do have to bite him if he does know. He tells me "I won't tell anyone, I promise."
Does he think he's hallucinating me, or is he actually seeing me? Alcohol doesn't effect me because I'm a werewolf. I back away from him and then look at his arm. I hope I'm biting him at the right place. I quickly sink my teeth into his arm before pulling them out and running back to the pack.

I watch over them the rest of the night then head back to the pack house in the morning. I meet Morgan outside. I change into human form and start getting dressed. She asks me "Did you bite anyone?"
I finish getting dressed and tell her "I did. Hopefully I choose the right person."
She asks me "Who did you bite?"
"Matthew Knight."
"Wait... isn't he the schools popular social butterfly?"
"Yeah he is."
"Why did you pick him?!"
"I'm...not sure."
"Is there anything else I should know before you tell Mason? While I watch the pack?"
"Yeah. There's some wolf babies."
"What?!"
"Yeah it surprised me too. Now we really need the extra help."
She quickly undresses then changes into her wolf form. I watch her run away before heading inside. Mason is sitting at the table and eating some toast. He asks "did you bite anyone?"
"Yeah I did."
"Who?"
"Matthew Knight."
"Why did you choose him?"
"I'm not sure. I saw him wandering the forest path. It was late and...I think he knows about us."
"What do you mean?"
"How some of us aren't normal wolves. I'm not sure how though."
He gets up and grabs his toast. He asks "Where does he live?"
I shrug and tell him "I don't know. I've never been over to his house before."
He heads outside and I follow him. I ask him "Do you even know what he looks like?"
"I'll figure it out."
"I'm going with you."
"No, you aren't."
"Yes I am. You can't stop me."
He sighs then unlocks his car. We both get in and he starts driving. He starts driving around different streets until I tell him "Go to my house."
"Why?"
"Because he lives right next to me."
"Why didn't you tell me that earlier?"
"Because then you wouldn't have allowed me to come with you."
We go down my street and he parks outside my house on the street. It's early Saturday morning and we are trying to get to Matthew Knight before anyone can know our secret. I lead the way and we walk towards his house. We stop on his driveway when we hear noise coming from his backyard. We look around to make sure no one sees us before we run to his backyard. We see him staggering to the woods until he makes it there. We follow after him and see him suddenly change into a wolf. He's a brown wolf.
