Mason Foster's PoV
Early Friday morning I'm awake because of my sleeping problem. Also to get the house ready for the pack coming in to build the fence. It's nice how the pack is willing to come back and help even though they don't live here anymore. I'm walking around the house cleaning up after all the wolves. Luckily they haven't started clawing or destroying the furniture. They just wander around and eat or use the bathroom. Occasionally there's fights and then I have to change into wolf form and stop them. We keep rooms like our bedroom doors closed and the office so they can't destroy those rooms. Those rooms are more important and special to use then all our bigger rooms. We can easily replace furniture versus all our items in our bedrooms that are sentimental.
When there's knocking on the front door the wolves all stop looking around the house or sleeping and all head to the door. There's growling and howling going on. Crap. They are getting loud. I'm wearing my favorite shirt. Ugh. I rip my clothes when I quickly change into wolf form and growl at them all. The wolves quiet down and move away from the door but they are still looking towards the door. I head to the kitchen and change into my Human form. I wrap one of the bigger towels around me then head to the front door. I unlock it and open it. The whole pack is all standing there. They have rental cars taking up a big portion of our driveway. Johnny grins and asks "Having fun there?"
I roll my eyes and tell him "I had to quiet them before the hunters got woken up."
Sandra says "It's so good to see you! It's been forever!"
I'm about to respond when there's a wolf that walks to the front door right next to me. Everyone's eyes go wide. It's Liam....well his wolf form but it's him. Josh asks "How long has he been stuck like that?"
I tell them "I'm not really sure anymore. Crystal changed a lot earlier this year too. It's just me, Morgan, and our newbie Zoe. But we also got another newbie named Matthew."
Alan smiles and says "You've been busy."
I tell them "Sorry the place is a mess."
I let them all inside. Some of them brought there spouses and kids. Others are by themselves. Not all of them told there spouses they are Werewolves. We have to keep it a secret until you know one of your kids is a Werewolf. They look around and see all the wolves inside the house. When everyones inside I close the door. I tell them "You probably don't want your kids playing with them. A majority of them are wild wolves. I have to change and control them a lot."
Julia asks "How many of them are actually our pack members?"
"I'm not really sure anymore. There's too many wolves wandering around. But it's easier to tell which wolves are Crystal and Liam."
Cassie asks "Where can we put our stuff? And let our kids sleep?"
I tell them "The bedrooms are fine. We closed the bedroom doors and office doors to keep the wolves out. We didn't want the wolves ruining those rooms."
The Werewolves with kids all start heading up the stairs to the bedrooms while the ones here that aren't married or are here without there kids and spouses stay down here. Jimmy tells me "It's easier to let them pick there rooms first. We'll take our stuff up in a moment then we can get started if that's ok with you."
I tell them "That's fine with me."
Morgan comes downstairs and asks "What happened to your clothes?"
I tell her "When they knocked the wolves started growling and howling. I changed to get them to be quiet."
Jimmy asks "So....how bad is this hunters problem?"
Morgan tells them "It's really bad."
I tell them "The hunters got poison bullets. It started with normal bullets but then they changed it."
Morgan tells them "I got shot by non poisonous bullets. Mason was shot by a poison one. It almost killed him."
They all seem surprised. I tell them "It's better to not run around in wolf form or if you do be extremely careful. That's why we have to build the fence."
Max asks "How bad is the poison?"
I tell him "It's really bad. I was stuck in wolf form for a while. I couldn't heal very fast because my body was trying to fight the poison. Luckily our newest member was able to get into the hospital and get the antidote. His mom works at the hospital. But I was taken to the hospital another day in Human form because I was throwing up blood, violently seizing, and other symptoms. It's very bad if you do get shot. Morgan had to get the medicine we have hidden that's a last resort to save me. I'm still slowly recovering. That happened last week."
Max says "You seem alright to me."
Morgan tells them "He's not. He's slowly building up his strength. He's been taking it easy but also been training our newbie, Matthew."
After talking about the poison I start feeling dizzy. It occasionally happens but I haven't told anyone. Ecspecially Morgan because I didn't want her to be worried. She looks at me and asks "Mason? You ok?"
I'm about to fall down when Max and Jimmy catch me. They help walk me over and slowly sit down on the couch. Max asks "You alright?"
I nod my head. Morgan looks at me and says "It's side effects of the poison still, isn't it? Why didn't you tell me?"
I tell her "I didn't want you to worry."
"So it's happened more times."
Jimmy asks "How many times have you felt dizzy?"
"A couple more times. This time...was the worst."
Max says "You should've told Morgan and the rest of us."
The rest of the pack walks down the stairs without there kids. Cassie asks "what happened?"
Max catches them up real quick and they all seem worried. Morgan says "Wait a second.... We didn't tell you guys about Matthew getting shot by the poison bullet....but it didn't effect him."
Max asks "Does the poison effect people differently or is Matthew different?"
Morgan says "I'm not sure."
Jimmy asks "Where's Matthew?"
"His house."
"Why?"
"Because him and Zoe are still high school students. They'll move in with us after they graduate."
Jimmy tells us "We should start building the fence."
Before they can head to the front door the wolves start growling and slowly approaching them. Not this again. I stand up even though they are all giving me looks telling me not to and I change into my wolf form. I stand up as tall as I can and growl very loudly. The wolves turn towards me. It's the wild wolves causing the biggest problem. Some of the newer wild wolves start growling at me, while others back away. I slowly walk over to the newer wolves that are growling and continue growling at them. One by one they all back away except for one. Morgan tells me "Mason don't."
I look towards her and before I turn back the wolf attacks me. I'm not feeling too great but I start fighting the wolf. The wolf gets its claws into me and gets my throat in it's mouth. I manage to wiggle out and claw it some. Then I move away and growl. The wolf lays down on the ground, showing it's giving up. I start to take a step but then I fall down. My paw. Ouch. Morgan rushes over and asks "What happened?"
I look at her. How can I tell her? I try changing back into Human form but I can't. What is happening to me? I can usually force myself to change. Why does it hurt so much? I can hear myself start whimpering and Morgan looking worried. Morgan tells them "I don't know what's going on. He's never been like this before."
Max comes and kneels by me. He says "Jimmy, change into wolf form and figure out what's going on then change back in Human form."
Jimmy takes his shirt off and pants before changing into his wolf. Some people don't like destroying all there clothes when they change. Jimmy asks me "what's going on?"
"I'm not sure. My paw just started really hurting. I can't change back either. I can barely move."
"That's not good. I didn't think a poison could harm one of us this badly."
"I didn't either."
"You good?"
"It's like my paw is on fire. I can't explain it."
"I'll tell them. Maybe Matthew can help?"
"I don't know if he can. He had school today...I-"
I can't speak anymore because I start throwing up. Jimmy asks What's going on?"
I don't answer so he quickly changes into his Human form. He tells them "He said his paw is on fire, he can't move, and he can't change back into his Human form."
Morgan asks "Would giving him too much of the antidote do this? Or the last option Werewolf medicine?"
Max says "I'm not sure."
Jimmy asks "Can you get Matthew to come here?"
I'm still throwing up. I can barely breathe. Morgan asks "Why Matthew? He's the newest member."
"He reacted differently to the poison. A blood transfer could help Mason."
Morgan gets up and rushes over to the home phone. She calls and we all hear the phone ringing. Max is trying to help but there's not much he can do. I'm trying to stay consious but I can't breathe. The last thing I hear is Max yelling "Mason! Stay awake!"*Picture at the top of the chapter is what Max looks like*
