I get woken up when I hear a howl. I recognize it as Mason. Why is he a wolf? Unless it's his insomnia. He went out for a run. I quickly run out of my room and downstairs. Matthew also was woken up. He's still in wolf form and scratching at the door. I'm surprised when I open the door to see a wild wolf pack standing there. Then I look and at the edge of the woods is Mason. No! Mason! I run out of the house and over to him. He has two gunshot wounds. No! Please don't die! I can't lose him! I start looking around, not sure of what to do. I can't lose him! I look and I see Matthew standing beside me in wolf form. He's holding something in his mouth. I take it from him and see it's my phone. I quickly call Zoe. She answers and sleepy asks "What's going on? You know what time it is?"
My voice cracks when I yell "Zoe!"
She immediately sounds more alert. She asks "What happened?"
"Mason!...he's...he's been...shot!...I don't know...what to do! Please!...I...I can't...lose him!"
I hear Zoe moving around she asks "How many bullets?"
"I see two wounds."
"Can you get the bullets out?"
"I...I don't know how to!"
"What about Matthew?"
"He's still stuck in wolf form. Please!"
Zoe tells me "Get him inside where it's safe. Apply pressure to his wounds to stop the bleeding until I get there. Can you do that?"
"I...I think so."
"Get off the phone and do it. I can't talk while driving. I'll drive as fast as I can."
We both hang up. I hand Matthew my phone. He carries it back inside. I start half carry, half dragging Mason inside. He's so much bigger and heavier then my wolf form.

I finally get him inside and I close the door. I'm shocked when I see the wild wolf pack inside. They are laying in the living area. Some of them are sleeping, others are looking at me. I shake my head to stop myself from getting distracted. I quickly rush to the bathroom and grab some towels. I run back over to Mason. I push the towels onto his wounds and start applying pressure. Tears are streaming down my face. I can't lose him. He's my big brother. He always looks at for me. Ecspecially when Zoe is picking on me. I feel something press against me and it causes me to jump. I look and see it's Matthew. He's trying to comfort me while stuck in his wolf form. I give him a appreciative smile.

What seems like forever Zoe finally gets here. She parks her car and rushes inside. She asks "How long has he been bleeding?"
"I...I... don't know."
She looks at me with a sympathetic smile. She tells me "We will save him, I promise."
I move out of the way and she removes the towels. She tells me "Go get the first aid kit. We might have to do some stitches."
I run to go get the kit while she works on getting the bullets out. I run back with the kit and set it down. I open it and start searching for the supplies needed for stitches. I find them even with my bloody, shaky hands. I set them down on the floor by Zoe. She pulls both bullets out. She waits but he keeps bleeding. She asks "Why isn't his healing working?"
She grabs the stuff I pulled out and starts putting stitches in the first wound. When she's done she does the second one. I pull out the bandages from the kit and wrap it around the stitches. When she finishes she looks up and notices the wild wolf pack. She looks at me in surprise. She asks "How did they get inside?"
I tell her "I'm not sure..maybe when I left the door wide open and rushed over to Mason."
We look at Mason when he starts moving around. Zoe yells "Mason! Stop moving! And don't change! Your healing isn't working! We had to put stitches in. Moving around too much will pull them out and you will start bleeding again."
He stops moving and starts whimpering. He's in so much pain. I know what it's like to get shot...well shot two times but I was able to heal myself when they pulled the bullet out. Why can't he heal himself? I ask Zoe "Can we do anything to help his pain?"
She tells me "I'm not sure. I don't know why he can't heal himself. It's never stopped working before."
We hear Matthew's voice ask "Is it the bullets that were used?"
We look behind us and are surprised to see him standing there fully clothed. He tells us "I ran upstairs and changed when he was waking up."
He walks over to us and looks at Mason. His whimpering gets louder. I start crying because I can't stand seeing him in pain. His whimpering quiets down and he shifts his head around, trying to find out who's crying. He sees me and I know he doesn't want me to worry about him. I try to stop crying but it's hard seeing him injured. Matthew tells us "I think these bullets have poison in them."
Zoe asks "Why would they want to poison the wolves? I thought they wanted to kill them."
Matthew tells us "I'm guessing the poison was meant to kill them quickly. That's why Mason can't heal himself. His body is fighting the poison."
Zoe asks him "What can we do to help him? We can't bring him to the vet. They would easily identify he is not a dog."
"I could...steal some medicine."
"From where?"
"The hospital."
"Why?"
"How else are we supposed to help him?"
"I'm...not sure."
Matthew looks at the wild wolf pack and sees some of them have fallen unconscious. He quickly walks over and checks them. He tells us "The posion grazed there sides. They would be dead if Mason didn't get hit instead."
We all look at Mason. He's looking at us and quietly whispering. Zoe asks "Does anyone know anything about poison?"
Matthew tells us "I don't think the wild wolves are in danger. They should be able to sleep it off and recover but I'll still get medicine for them just in case. From what I've heard from my mom it's bad for the posion victim to fall asleep. Mostly if they aren't at a hospital and fall unconscious then there friends or family can't really do anything to help them."
Zoe asks "So we should keep Mason awake?"
"Yes. And I think we should make him walk around."
"Why? He could pull his stitches."
"That's a risk we have to take. Making him move around will slow down the poison and spread it around his body. That way it won't get to his heart as easily."
Zoe asks "How long will it take you to get the medicine?"
"I'm not sure. I'll leave right now. Can I borrow a car?"
Zoe gets up and grabs a set of car keys for him and walks out into the garage to help him find the car. I look at Mason and I slowly move closer to him and start petting his head. It seems to distract him some from the pain.

Zoe comes back inside and walks over to us. We hear the garage door open and close and a car rushing away. Zoe looks at Mason and tells him "You need to stand up now."
He doesn't stand up. She asks him "Do you need help?"
He still doesn't get up or shake his head. Zoe looks at me and asks "Can you help me lift him up?"
I nod my head and we both stand up and next to him. We slowly start lifting him up and he starts whimpering. We get him on his four paws and when we let go he starts falling down. His whimpers get louder but we wrap our arms around him and make him stay standing up. We look outside and it's slowly getting brighter. I can't believe how much has happened the last two...now three days. Zoe tells me "We need to make him walk around."
I nod my head and we slowly start moving with him. His whimpers keep getting louder and it hurts knowing he's in so much pain.

When he's more stable we both let go and force him to keep moving. He's whimpering very loudly but we can't do anything to help. I'm surprised when my phone starts ringing. Zoe nods telling me I can go answer it. I quickly run and answer it. It's Elizabeth.
