Chapter 26: Emergency Part 2

Zoe Arnolds PoV

When Mason is given a sedative then starts seizing with blood coming out of my mouth I get scared. He's really sick. I drop my phone which I've been using to text Matthew, Morgan, and Elizabeth in a group chat and just stand there not sure of what to do. Matthew's mom is here taking care of him but I'm still worried. I know he said no medicine because it doesn't work on Werewolves. It never lasts very long. Usually we are able to heal ourselves too. But with being shot with a poison bullet and the wound Mason hasn't been able to fully heal himself.

I'm surprised when Morgan rushes into the room. She rushes over to Dr Knight with a liquid medicine and tells her "Put this in the IV. It's a medicine he's not allergic to."
Dr Knight puts it in the IV with the antidote and he stops seizing. His body slowly relaxes and the blood stops coming out of his mouth. The nurses clean his mouth and Dr Knight tells them "Do a blood test so we can figure out his blood type. He's lost a lot of blood so he needs more."
Morgan tells her "You can hook me up to him. We have the same blood type."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I am. We are siblings."
"But siblings don't always have the same blood type."
"Trust me. We do."
"Ok. Hook her up."
The nurses work on setting up for Morgan to donate some blood to Mason. He's laying on the bed deathly pale, sweaty, and not looking good. Morgan sits in a chair and reaches her hand out to hold Mason's hand. They hold hands and share a look. They have there own secret language or something that they understand each other. Dr Knight asks "Is there anything else I should know about Mason before we get him stable enough for surgery?"
Morgan tells her "He can't have surgery."
"Why not? I already talked with him and Zoe about it."
"His body reacts badly to sticks. Bandages will work. You just need to clean out his wound. He will be fine after that."
"If you won't let me do my job then why did you even bring him here?"
I tell her "Because he was going to die if I didn't. You saw how he was when he came in."
One of the nurses tells the doctor "You can go watch over the other patients. Take a break. I'll watch over him for you."
Dr Knight hesitates a moment then tells us "I'll come check in on you in a little while."
She leaves with the second nurse. Morgan sighs in relief that they left. The nurse smiles and says "It's good to see you guys. It's been a while."
Morgan smiles and says "It's been a couple years. What are you doing back here?"
"I moved back here with my husband and twins. He learned that I'm..."
"Yeah. How did he take it?"
"Well he said he knew. He had known for a while. He just assumed I would tell him when I was ready. When we had the twins we had them at the hospital with one of our friends in case...you know."
"Is it boys, girls, or one of both?"
She smiles and tells her "It's twin girls. We decided to move back so hopefully Liam could help train the twins. One of them is a Werewolf. She changed in her sleep. The other we aren't sure yet. We got lucky no one's seen her change into a wolf."
"Oh! I forgot to introduce you to Zoe. She's been with us for a year. She lives with her parents here but come over all the time."
"It's good to meet you! I'm Kailey."
I smile at her then reach down and pick up my phone. Before I can say anything Mason pulls the mask off. Kailey tells him "put the mask back on."
He tells her "No..."
She rolls her eyes and tells him "You're still stubborn."
She reaches to put the mask back on when he starts coughing. She moves the bed to a sitting position to help. Morgan motions to me so I go close the door so we have privacy and are able to talk. Kailey asks "What happened?"
Morgan tells her "He was in wolf form and got shot by a poison bullet. There's a hunter in town that's hunting the wolves. Our whole pack and more wild wolves are in our basement or main floor. One of our new Werewolf friends helped us get the antidote but he's not healing. His body was fighting the poison."
"So his body is reacting badly to being stuck in wolf form for so long?"
"I think so but I'm not really sure. I've never dealt with this before."
Kailey asks Mason "How have you been feeling?"
He tells her "I don't...know how to describe... it...it's like...my body is pulling itself apart...fighting between...Human...and wolf..."
Mason starts coughing again and throws up more blood. Kailey looks at the wound. She tells us "It's a good thing Morgan brought that stuff. That wound is bad."
I ask them "what's the stuff she brought? I never knew that was at the house."
"It's a rare and old medicine. It was made by a Werewolf to help another Werewolf. It's known as a last effort to save one of our kind. The side effects are different on each Werewolf."
Mason passes out because he's coughing and throwing up blood. Kailey puts the tube down his throat again. She tells us "We need to get him home. They can't help him here."
I ask "How can we get medical equipment back at the house?"
"We'll figure that out. But if he stays here Dr Knight will insist to do surgery."
