Chapter 36: Worry

Morgan Rogers PoV

I rush over to our home phone to call Matthew. I have his number memorized. My phone is in my room and that's too far away. Please pick up. This is a different number but please pick up. After a couple rings and hearing them yell at Mason to stay awake he finally answers. He says "Hello?"
I tell him "Matthew! You answered!"
"Morgan? Who's number is this?"
"Our home phone number. But we need you!"
"For what? Do you know how early it is?"
"It's Mason! He's sick! We need you."
"Who's we?"
"Our pack members all got in town. They think your blood can save him but you need to hurry! He's throwing up blood."
I hear Max say "He's unconscious. Barely breathing."
I tell Matthew "He's unconscious."
"If you think my blood will help then I'll come. I'll drag Zoe over with me. But we can't stay very long."
"Thanks Matthew!"
I get off the phone and tell them "Matthew's coming. He's bringing Zoe too."
Cassie says "This will be interesting. I don't think any of us have met them."
Molly asks "How's Mason doing?"
Max tells us "Not good. I'm trying to clear his airway. He stopped throwing up because he fell unconscious."
I walk over and sit down by Mason. Why does he have to get so sick? He's always been kind to me. He's like my older brother. Please don't die. I don't know what I'd do without you.

Twenty minutes later a car pulls up then Matthew and Zoe come inside. They are all surprised to see all the pack members that are here. Max says "Welcome to our party. Get over here."
Matthew walks over and sits down by us. He asks "Do you really think my blood will help Mason?"
Max tells him "Roll up your sleeve."
Matthew rolls his sleeve up and I tell him "We think so but we aren't sure. Sorry you couldn't meet everyone under better circumstances."
Matthew tells us "That's alright. I meet people in many different ways. I guess...I'm not much of a morning person."
Zoe says "I'm not either. But I was your ride over. Your welcome by the way."
Max sets up for a blood transfusion. Matthew's blood slowly starts going into Mason. Cassie asks "Should we introduce ourselves?"
Zoe yawns and says "I'm Zoe. Been around for a year. That's Matthew. Been around...I think a couple weeks now? I don't really know. Hi all of you. There's a lot of you."
Matthew says "We aren't doing anything else. We can learn there names."
I laugh and tell them "That'll take a while. We can tell you there names if you want."
Zoe yawns again and tells us "Go for it. There isn't anything else to do."
I call out people's names and they all raise there hands or say a quick hello. If I don't know someones spouse then they introduce there spouse and say there kids names before I go into the next person. I don't know how long I've been going on about there names but eventually Max stops the blood transfusion and tries to wake up Mason. Zoe looks at the time and says "We gotta go before we are late to school."
Matthew stands up and that's right when Mason wakes up. Jimmy says "I can change into my wolf again of you want to talk with him."
We all look over at Jimmy. He's been sitting on the floor naked this whole time. Zoe and Matthew seem very uncomfortable when they see he's naked. I tell him "Do it."
When he changes into his red wolf form Matthew and Zoe both relax. Max apologizes, telling "Sorry about that. From all of us....Jimmy is the most comfortable walking around naked. He would do it all the time when we lived here. We are used to seeing each other naked but Jimmy...takes it to a whole different level."
We can all tell Jimmy and Mason are talking with each other. Mason seems to be doing better. Zoe says "Nice meeting y'all but we gotta go. See you after school."
Zoe and Matthew leave. Molly says "Them seem like good choices for this lifestyle."
Luna tells us "I agree."
Mark asks "What are we gonna do now? Sit here or go build a fence? Because last I knew we are on a time limit."
That's Mark. He's always been straight forward no matter if it hurts people's feelings or not. Can you tell our pack has been filled with all kinds of personalities? I tell them "I'll take you guys over to start building the fence. You're right that we don't all need to sit here doing nothing. Thanks for coming even though it was pretty last minute."
Claire tells me "Don't worry about it! Of course we'd come help! The pack is our family. Always had been and always will be. Besides we all owe out lives to members of the pack. What would we do without them?"
I get up and take most of the pack to where we left off building the fence. I tell them "We started building it both directions from the driveway. We want to add in gates with codes every so often so we can let the wolves in and out of our property. And also a way so the hunters can't climb over the fence either."
Jason, one of our geeks or nerds, super smart, says "I can figure out the gate and code part."
Blake says "I'll take care of who's building which fence. You go back to Mason."
I thank them and tell them "We have a rental trailer filled with supplies. There's more in the workshop too. After that you'll have to buy more at the store."
I quickly head back to the house and go to Mason. He seems to be doing better but he's still in his wolf form. Max tells me "He's doing better."
Jimmy changes back to Human form and tells us "He's going to try and change so give him some space."
We move away and chase the wolves away to give him some space. After we do Mason changes into Human form again. I grab a blanket off the couch and put it around him. Then I hug him. He awkwardly hugs me back. I tell him "Don't do that to me ever again."
He smiles and says "I'll try not to."
Max tells him "You are going to take it easy the rest of the day. That was close. You almost died."
Mason tells him "Yeah I know."
Max asks "Are you gonna tell us next time when you aren't feeling good instead of scaring us?"
"Yeah....I got that."
Jimmy stands up and says "I'll go help build the fence now."
Max tells him "Get some clothes on."
"Why?"
"Because you can't walk around naked."
"Technically I can. Do you know what my job is?"
"No. And I don't want to know. We do t live here and we don't need to draw more attention to us. Get some clothes on."
"Fine. Party pooper."
Jimmy gets some clothes on then goes to help the others. Max tells us "I'm gonna go help them for now. I'll check in on you later, Mason."
Max leaves too. Now it's just me, Mason, and the wolves. Mason asks "Can you get some clothes for me? I would but I'm exhausted."
I tell him "Sure."
I head upstairs to his room, grab some clothes, then head back down to him. I hand him the clothes then look away. When he's done he tells me "You can look now."
I look and he's laying on the couch, looking exhausted. I tell him "You should get some sleep."
"Yeah..."
"I mean it."
"I know."
"Then why aren't you sleeping yet?"
"Because I'm talking to you."
I head over to the kitchen and pull some bags of meat out. I open the bags and dump them on the floor. I honestly don't care. I move away and all the wolves rush over to eat. It's a feeding frienzy. Honestly I probably should've spread the meat out more but I don't really care because Mason almost died again.
