Matthew Knight's PoV
After James punched me I was badly shaking. I was so close to changing into my wolf. I agreed with Zoe and Elizabeth to leave and go home. They were the reason I didn't change. I really need to start training with Mason to control this otherwise I'll be the reason there secret gets revealed.
I head to the office and tell the lady "I want to get signed out."
She asks "Why? I don't see anything wrong with you."
I tell her "I just got punched in the face by another student. My vision is kind of blurry. I want to go home and rest. Can you call my mom to pick me up? She's a doctor."
"Who punched you?"
"Does it matter?"
"Yes it does so we can call him down here."
"He's already getting brought down here because he punched me in the cafeteria. But he's gonna get away with it because he's best friends with the principals son. Can you call my mom?"
"Sure. Have a seat."
I have a seat and she calls my mom. Hopefully my mom won't freak out. We already had a hard night last night. When the lady gets off the phone she tells me "She'll be here soon. Do you need ice?"
My face is feeling pretty swollen. I know I've gotten into fights like this plenty of times with James or other kids and been fine but ice would still help. I tell her "If that's ok with you."
She smiles and says "Of course it is."
She gets the ice and comes back. She hands it to me and I take it. She sits back down in her chair while I put the ice on my eye. I really need to get home and take it easy or else I'm going to change into my wolf. My phone goes off so I pull it out. It's Mason. He texted me I just heard you got punched. It's gonna heal very fast. Also they said you almost changed. We need to start training asap to help you.
I akwardly reply I know I need training. My mom's coming to pick me up. I need some time to cool down first. And...there was a lot of drama at my house last night after I got home so my mom's gonna be extra emotional and over protective of me.
He replies Tell me when you can come over. And if you want, you can tell me about what happened last night. No pressure if you don't.
I look away from my phone when the school buzzer goes off. The lady let's the person in. It's my mom. She rushes inside and over to me. She asks "Are you ok? I can't believe someone hit you! Is it bad? Let me see it."
I tell her "It's not that bad. I'm just a little dizzy and blurry eyed. I wanna go home and rest for a while."
She nods and goes over to sign me out. I stand up and walk with her outside of school and to her car. We get inside and start heading home. She tells me "Don't worry about your car. We can bring it home later. Are you ok? What happened?"
"James and I stopped being friends. He's ticked off at me so he came up to me and punched me. It's fine. He's gonna get away with it anyways. His record is clean."
"I don't understand. Why is it clean?"
"One of our other friends, well my ex friend now too is Tom. Tom's dad is the school principal. Tom and James have always been very close. They are practically family. So James gets away with anything he does. Nothing is put on his record. He just gets told to go to the principal to make it look like he's in trouble."
"That's not fair."
"That's what happens."
"I'm gonna call the school and complain."
"That's not gonna help. I have one year left there anyways so it doesn't matter."
"If you say so."
We drive the rest of the way home in silence. When we get home I go inside, take my shoes off, and out my backpack by the front door. My eye isn't hurting anymore so I go throw the mostly melted ice away. Then I go into our main living area and turn the TV on. My mom walks in and asks "Do you need anything before I go to the hospital? I'm sorry I can't stay but I'm working the afternoon to night shift today."
I tell her "I'm good and it's fine. I'll probably take a nap for a while or maybe go over to a friend's house when school lets out."
"Ok, see you later."
"Bye."
She leaves and when she leaves I call Mason's cell. He answers and says "I'm guessing you're home now?"
"Yeah I am. I'll head over in a little bit. My mom just left to go to work."
"Sounds good. Why are you calling?"
"I wanted to know if there's anything I can do before heading over there to calm myself down. Besides taking deep breathes."
"We mainly suggest deep breathes. But you could try meditating too. Or yoga because that helps calm you down and momentarily forget what's bothering or stressing you out."
"That's it?"
"What? You thought there's something more I can teach you while on the phone? Because I can't. It takes a lot of physical and mental train to control the shaking and urge to shift from anger."
"I guess I'll try meditating or doing yoga."
"Have fun with that. I'm gonna go back to building the fence until you get here."
"Is it just you and Morgan?"
"No. Kailey came over to help too but she brought her twins so there's only so much she can really do to help."
"Who's Kailey?"
"A new nurse at the hospital. She's also a Werewolf. She moved away to go to school and got married. The have twin two year old girls. One is a Werewolf. The other they aren't sure yet. They moved back here to get help training there daughter or daughters. Her husband is busy working during the day and she does various shifts at the hospital. Mostly nighttime but occasionally day. She's one of the nurses that helped me while I was at the hospital."
"Are there any other friends coming to help?"
"Morgan said there are. There's a big group of them coming in town this Friday. They hope it isn't too late by then but they couldn't take the whole week off of work or school. They will be here early Friday through Monday afternoon. We can get caught up with each other but our main focus is to build the fence. They might bring there spouses and kids too so we might end up training some of there kids. I'm not really sure yet?"
"And they're all going to stay at the pack house that's filled with wolves?"
"Yeah. The wolves know us and know we won't harm them. They aren't newbie wolves Matthew. They lived here for years before moving away. They don't move away until they are in control of force shifting. It would be bad if you force shifted in front of others. But being a Werewolf isn't an easy life. We do our best to avoid confrontations. That means trying not to get angry with others or argue to much. Basically be a quiet good civilian. It's not always a fun life to live but they manage. It's easier, at least in my opinion to live at the pack house because we are closer to the woods then they are in bigger towns and cities. It's your choice if you want to live at the pack house forever or try and live a somewhat normal life."
"Well I'm gonna do your suggestions now. See ya soon."
"Bye."
"Bye."
After getting off the phone I start doing some yoga and meditation. I always hated doing it during pe but now I sort of have to do it to help. Gotta love being a Werewolf.*Picture at the top of the chapter is what the secretary looks like*
