Phoenix, Kris, Mimi, and Quinn had been going to Wonderlust Theater since second grade right when it opened. Well, let's just say it wasn't second grade anymore. Tenth grade! That meant that the girls had known each other for nine years now. October 17. Only two weeks until Halloween. The girls and their guy friends were all going out together. Mimi called it Candy Night. Trick-or-treating was just too childish. Phoenix, Kris, Mimi, and Quinn walked into Wonderlust Theater that day with a smile on their faces. They hadn't been to theater in so long since they had just finished a show.
Quinn walked in first and got the wonderful smell of coffee grounds and old people. The best smell to the girls.
"Hey Phoenix, what are you going to say to Dan when you see him?" Mimi followed Quinn into the hall.
"Shhhh! No one knows yet." Phoenix's eyebrows raised off her head.
"Does he?" Quinn asked.
"Yes. This isn't a stupid fantasy." Kris told Quinn.
"Thank you Kris." Phoenix smiled.
"This is an important fantasy." Kris corrected.
"Ugh." Phoenix sighed.
"Come on. I can't wait to see everyone!" Quinn ran up the stairs.
"No. You just can't wait to see Eric." Phoenix stopped her.
"Not true. I can't wait to see all my friends." Quinn lied.
"You and Eric are cute together. Just stop denying it." Phoenix laughed.
Quinn rolled her eyes and ran up the stairs. Mimi, and Kris followed close behind. Phoenix stayed at the bottom of the stairs.
"Where's Phoenix?" Quinn asked Mimi.
Mimi saw Tanner and ignored everyone else. "I don't care." Mimi walked away. Kris found her favorite couch and sat.
Quinn shook her head and went back downstairs. Someone caught her arm.
"Quinn!" It was Eric.
"Hey Eric! I have to go find Phoenix." Quinn tried to head back downstairs.
"Oh okay. Talk later?" Eric asked.
"Yes. Yes of course." Quinn nodded. Eric stared as she walked downstairs.
"Phoenix! There you are. Come on. Everyone's in the theater. Kris is in the lobby. She found her couch." Quinn laughed.
"Ha. Nice." Phoenix tried to laugh.
"Hey what's wrong?" Quinn asked.
"Nothing. Dan is upstairs, and it's overwhelming." Phoenix looked up the stairs.
"Hey, you'll be fine. I know I've given you a hard time about it but I believe you. Just talk to him. I'm sure he misses you." Quinn said. "I'm going upstairs. Rehearsal is going to start soon."
"I'll be right up." Phoenix nodded.
Quinn went back upstairs. Kris hurried her into the theater.
"Quinn you'll never believe what just happened." Kris sat down in one of the red velvet chairs.
"What?" Quinn asked.
"Eric said that he needed to ask you something big after rehearsal." Kris whispered.
"He's going to propose!" Mimi muttered.
Phoenix came inside the theater and caught Dan's eye. She grinned and looked away.
Just then, Henry walked in. He owned the theater and he was a very nice guy. In a couple of words, he was very skinny, and had a nice head of hair.
"Hey guys! Who's ready to start the production of Once on This Island?" Henry asked the group.
Eric was sitting in the front row, right next to Tanner. Mimi ignored Henry completely and focused and Tanner.
"Mimi? You good?" Henry asked. Tanner turned around. Mimi looked up at Henry.
"I'm fine." Mimi nodded.
"Auditions will be tomorrow and everyone gets to learn the songs today. I understand that some people want specific roles." Henry looked in the direction of the four girls.
"Hehe." Kris laughed.
"So, anyone who is auditioning for Timoune can come up to the piano and Santane will be teaching you Waiting for Life to Begin." Henry walked away.
Phoenix got up and walked over to the piano but someone grabbed her sleeve. It was Daniel.
"What?" Phoenix asked.
"I need to talk to you about something." Daniel told her.
"About what?" Phoenix questioned.
"It's something important. Just come on." Daniel started to pull her.
"Can it wait?" Phoenix gestured to the piano.
"No." Daniel raised his eyebrows.
