"My dad brought me into the whole business when I was very young." Daniel started.
"Okay, but what business? Was this a job or a hobby?" Phoenix asked.
"My great grandfather used to do this as a hobby, but as it passed down, it changed into a business. People called us, told us who they were having a problem with, told us where we could find them, and then we'd take care of it." Daniel explained.
"Oh my god. That's terrible!" Phoenix cried.
"We made a lot of money off of it. It's still going today even though my dad died and I'm in hiding." Daniel gestured to the hiding place where he and Phoenix were sitting.
"Okay. But that doesn't make it right. Keep going." Phoenix shook her head.
"I know. My dad told me if I didn't do it, he'd send someone to kill me, and you, and Kris, and everyone." Daniel blurted.
"So that's why you did it?" Phoenix asked. She didn't seem to believe him.
"Yes. I swear. I never wanted to hurt anyone. But if I didn't, then someone would get hurt. You." Daniel promised.
"I don't know if I believe that." Phoenix crossed her arms.
"You don't have to. But I want you to know that everything I said, and everything that happened between us... I meant all of it." Daniel looked at Phoenix. Phoenix looked away.
"Listen Daniel, I don't love you anymore. I can't. Even if what you say is true, I wouldn't be able to believe you or trust you ever again." Phoenix stood up.
"Where are you going?" Daniel asked.
"Now that I know everything that happened, I'm leaving you in here to rot." Phoenix sneered. She went back down the passage but noticed that the door was sealed shut. She banged on it but there was no answer. There wasn't even a doorknob.
"Now that we're alone." Daniel crept up behind her.
"How the hell am I supposed to get out of here?" Phoenix started to kick the door.
"You don't. They've been locking the door except for meal times." Daniel explained.
"When are meal times?" Phoenix asked.
"No idea. They're at different times each day." Daniel told her.
"Does that mean that I'm stuck here until one of my friends realize that I'm missing?" Phoenix asked.
"Pretty much. But even if you're friends do realize that you're missing, they'll never find you down here." Daniel sighed.
Alice and Billy opened the door. "We thought that you might be talking about escaping." Alice rolled her eyes.
"Why can't I leave? You didn't do anything wrong. If anything it would be Daniel that I bust." Phoenix gestured to Daniel and took a step closer to Alice and Billy.
"She has a point." Billy whispered to Alice.
"Fine." Alice stepped out of the way. Billy stopped Phoenix.
"She said I can leave." Phoenix told Billy.
"One thing first." Billy held up a finger.
"What is it?" Phoenix asked. She was ready to push Billy out of the way and run. But she didn't.
"You have to kiss me first." Billy rocked back and forth on his heels excitedly.
"What?" Phoenix and Daniel said at the same time.
"You heard me. Just a little one." Billy closed his eyes.
Phoenix wacked Billy in the face and ran out of the tunnel and was back in the record store. She could hear Alice running close behind her. She had to move fast.
She shoved a rack of records to block the start of the tunnel and she ran out of the store. She didn't stop running until she had reached the hospital.
As soon as she had ran through the automatic doors of the hospital, someone grabbed her arm.
"Let go!" Phoenix yelled instantly. People stared at her. It was Daniel. He pulled her into a family bathroom and he locked the door.
"What the hell? What is this?" Phoenix cried.
"Stop screaming." Daniel whispered. "I came here to warn you. Alice and Billy are not who you think they are. You made a mistake by hitting Billy. You should've just kissed him. You need to stay clear of them from now on, okay?" Daniel talked very fast. Phoenix just stared at him. "Okay?!" he repeated.
"Yeah. Why are you telling me this?" Phoenix raised her eyebrows.
"I may have done some stupid stuff. But I never lost feelings for you. This is my way of trying to make things up to you." Daniel explained.
"I hate you for what you did." Phoenix glared at him.
"I know. And I'm sorry." Daniel brushed it off.
"Good. You better be. But I'm not." Phoenix stomped on Daniel's foot and marched out of the family bathroom and into Quinn's hospital room.
"What happened?" Eric stood up. Quinn was sleeping.
"I'll explain when Quinn wakes up." Phoenix collapsed into a chair.
Eric tapped his foot impatiently wanting to hear what Phoenix has to say.
Phoenix sat in the chair looking at Quinn wondering what she would have to say about it all.
Most importantly she was thinking about Daniel and what he had said about still having feelings for her. Did she? She couldn't tell. She did love him. But she didn't right now. He had ruined her life. Him and his stupid father had tried to shoot her and all of her best friends.
Phoenix was having a debate with herself about Alice and Billy. She wasn't going to kiss Billy. That was just stupid. Why would she ever do something like that to herself? Yeah, she did the right thing.
Hopefully no one would know about the awkward moment with Billy. She didn't even know if she would tell Quinn.
A couple minutes later, Quinn had woken up. She wasn't interested in hearing Phoenix's story.
