After they had parked in front of a local pizza place, Eric and Quinn went their separate ways from Daniel and Phoenix.
"Alright, we'll meet back here at 7:30 and then go to Miguel's house straight after." Daniel got out of the car.
"Sounds good." Quinn nodded.
Daniel and Phoenix walked around the corner of the pizza place and went into Wonderlust Record Store. They looked at all kinds of records and random knickknacks but Phoenix couldn't help feeling weird around Daniel as if she had to say the L word to him.
Quinn and Eric walked a couple stores down from the pizza place and walked inside Wonderlust Arcade. Quinn tried to act normal around Eric but Eric was way too good at detecting if anything was wrong with Quinn. She knew that she would have to open up soon.
"Phoenix what do you think about these?" Daniel peeked behind a rack of Eric Clapton records and revealed his face with bright yellow sunglasses.
"Umm... not your best look." Phoenix stifled a laugh.
"Darn." Daniel put them back on a counter. Phoenix shrugged away. "Something's wrong with you. What is it?" Daniel caught up to Phoenix.
"Nothing, why?" Phoenix looked away.
"You can't look at me without forcing a smile. You're hiding something." Daniel faced Phoenix.
"Eric and Quinn said I love you the other day. I don't know, it's weird, but lately I've been feeling like I have to say it to you." Phoenix told the truth.
"Nix, that's so stupid." Daniel laughed. Nix was Daniel's nickname for Phoenix whenever he felt the need to use it.
"I know." Phoenix laughed along.
"You can say that to me whenever you feel the need to. And if I were to say it, I wouldn't pressure you to say it back." Daniel assured Phoenix.
"Thank you." Phoenix sighed.
Meanwhile at the arcade Quinn was playing Mrs. Pac-Man.
"Mrs. Pac-Man? Seriously? At least play Galaga." Eric laughed.
"It's good. Plus, I always win." Quinn completed another level.
"Wow." Eric nodded approvingly. "So, what's wrong?"
"Nothing." Quinn lied.
"Quinn, don't give me that. I know you're lying." Eric told her.
"I'm not." Quinn lied again.
"Come on. Just spit it out." Eric raised his eyebrows.
"I feel a little weird about what happened yesterday." Quinn admitted.
"With the 'L word?'" Eric laughed.
"Yeah. It was weirdly timed, and it just didn't feel like the right moment, and I'm sorry." Quinn turned to him.
"Quinn, it was actually fine. I felt that it was better than never. I meant what I said. I. Love. You. Maybe it was a moment thing for you, but I meant it." Eric stepped closer.
"It was not a moment thing. I love you too." Quinn realized.
"Good. Glad that we're okay again." Eric checked his watch. "Oh, shoot. It's 7:20. We should get going."
"Alright." Quinn grabbed Eric's hand and they started to walk back to the car. Daniel and Phoenix were already inside of the car.
Eric and Quinn got in the front seat. "Glad you guys are comfortable in my car." Eric turned around to face them.
"Yes we are." Mr. Rembarc nodded. It wasn't Phoenix and Daniel. It was Mr. and Mrs. Rembarc.
"What the hell is going on?" Quinn turned around.
"We don't want you two seeing each other any more." Mrs. Rembarc announced.
"We don't think that this petition and you two galloping around town is such a good idea. If any of our associates see you two together, we will make sure that Eric is shot." Mr. Remarc smiled as if this was a perfectly normal talk.
"Dad, what is this?" Quinn demanded. "What do you have against Eric? I remember having a very specific conversation with you, and it was about happiness. You said that whenever I found something or someone that made me happy, you would never get in the way. You would make sure that I had everything that I needed to stay happy. You went back on that promise. So no, Eric and I will not see each other. I will go to the police if you don't take back everything you said. I will make sure that you are arrested for threatening teens." Quinn warned her father.
"Maybe we should go." Mr. Rembarc straightened his tie.
"Maybe that's best." Eric nodded.
Mr. and Mrs. Rembarc left the car looking defeated. Quinn and Eric sank back into their cars and were greeted with Phoenix and Daniel walking straight towards the car.
"Why do you guys look so scared?" Phoenix got into the car, followed by Daniel.
"No reason." Eric shook his head. Phoenix and Daniel buckled their seatbelts and Eric and Quinn did the same.
As Eric got out of the parking spot a car swerved into the parking lot and hit the side of the car.
