Quinn stepped onto Wonderlust High School's stage and took a deep breath. She looked out into the audience and saw three people.
Mr. Auburn, the director of this year's musical. Quinn's harshest critic, and one of the meanest teachers in Wonderlust High School.
Then there was Eric. Sitting in the third row with a smile on his face ready to cheer Quinn on in case she needed it.
Then there was Phoenix. She was ready to audition right after Quinn, and was also prepared to support Quinn no matter what was about to happen.
"Name?" Mr. Auburn asked dully.
"Quinn Rembarc." Quinn stated.
"Role you're auditioning for?" Mr. Auburn stared at her.
"Sharpay." Quinn looked right back at him. She was not about to lose her cool or the role of Sharpay because of some stupid teacher.
"Song you're singing?" Mr. Auburn wrote something down on a sheet of paper.
"Fabulous from High School Musical 2." Quinn planted her feet.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. We're doing High School Musical. Not High School Musical 2." Mr. Auburn shook his head violently.
"Yes I understand that. On the email you sent to the school, you said that any song from the High School Musical franchise would be accepted." Quinn smiled.
"Okay then. Proceed." Mr. Auburn rolled his eyes clearly unaware of her knowing this.
Quinn sang her song and noticed that Mr. Rembarc had slipped into the back of the auditorium. Mr. Auburn, Phoenix, and Eric clapped for her.
Quinn smiled gratefully and went into the back of the auditorium holding up a finger to Eric trying to tell him that she'd join him soon.
"What are you doing here!" Quinn asked as soon as she reached her father.
"I had heard from Mr. Auburn that you were auditioning today. Do you really think that I am about to let you participate in this?" Mr. Rembarc roared.
"Can we take this outside please?" Quinn opened the door and Mr. Rembarc followed her out.
"Listen Quinn, I have supported you through everything, but this is too far." Mr. Rembarc shook his head.
"Supported me? That's crap! You have never supported me in my life!" Quinn yelled.
Eric came out of the auditorium. "Just wanted to make sure everything was okay."
"It's fine Adam." Mr. Rembarc sneered.
"Eric." Eric corrected.
"Whatever Rubin." Mr. Rembarc waved him away.
"Eric. His name is Eric!" Quinn stomped. She shook her head and left the building.
When Phoenix got home after her audition, she saw a note from Quinn.
Hey. It's Quinn. Sorry that I ran out. I wanted to see your audition, but I hope it went well! My dad got me so mad today. I'm kinda going to do something harsh. Hopefully, you agree. I already talked to your mom, and told her to keep it a secret. Tell Eric that I'll call him and that I love him. Bye!
"Okay?" Phoenix texted Eric what Quinn wanted him to know, then she went to her mom.
Sasha was in the kitchen on her phone.
"Hey mom. Did Quinn come to you for any reason to talk to you about anything?" Phoenix asked.
"Oh, you found the letter?" Sasha stood up.
"Yes. Mom, I did. Can you answer my question now please?" Phoenix questioned.
"Oh. She talked to me. I can't tell you though. Didn't you read the letter? She told me to keep it a secret until she got here and told you herself." Sasha explained.
"Can you at least tell me if it's good or bad?" Phoenix asked hurriedly.
"Oh it's good. I think you'll be very happy." Sasha rocked back and forth on her toes.
"So you're not going to tell me anything?" Phoenix asked.
"No, but you can tell me about your audition if you'd like." Sasha plugged in her phone and put it on the counter.
"It went fine. Nothing amazing about it." Phoenix shrugged.
"What part did you even audition for?" Sasha wondered.
"Why do you care?" Phoenix questioned.
"Because you are my daughter and I care about you." Sasha raised her eyebrows.
"I auditioned for Gabriella. Now can you tell me about Quinn?" Phoenix asked.
Quinn burst excitedly through the door. Phoenix whipped her head around and Sasha grinned widely.
"Is it done?" Sasha asked.
"All done!" Quinn threw down her wallet on the counter and hugged Sasha excitedly.
"Will someone please tell me what's going on here?" Phoenix leaned one her snack cabinet.
"I changed my legal guardian." Quinn opened her arms excitedly.
"That's great! Who is it?" Phoenix asked.
"Your mom!" Quinn presented Sasha.
"No way. Does that mean that we're sisters?" Phoenix jumped.
"Yes!" Sasha interrupted.
"You kinda ruined the moment." Phoenix slouched.
Quinn ran over and hugged Phoenix who hugged right back.
"What did you think the surprise was?" Quinn asked.
"That you were killing yourself." Phoenix laughed. "Until mom told me that it was good news and that I'd be happy."
"Wait. Do I have to call you mom?" Quinn turned to Sasha.
"No way. Definitely not." Sasha shook her head.
