Declaration - Kim Hongjoong

Chapter 23

"But why? we are already in the middle of investigating"

"I'm sorry but the higher officer banned us from continuing the case"

"But Head Prosecutor. How can that be? Two people are already dead and why did they just told us to back off from the case?"

"I dont know either Prosecutor Lim, just do as they say okay?"

Semi plop down in her seat and face palm herself. She was utterly lost at the fact that the higher authority are carelessly telling them to step down from the case.

Even the most idiotic person would know something is wrong and it scares Semi. What if more people die? Why are they suddenly closing the case?

She dialed Hongjoong's number on her phone with a heavy heart. He doesnt instantly replied and only answered after a few rings.

"Yes Prosecutor?", Hongjoong says droughly. He was sleeping until the girl called him jerking awake.

"Can you come to the office quickly?", Semi says carefully, not wanting to break the boys heart.

"Why? I thought we dont have a meeting today"

"Its about Wooyoung"

That was the last word Hongjoong heard, he dropped his phone and cleaned himself before grabbing his necessary things and took a taxi to drop him off.

When Hongjoong enter the office panting from running so fast, he saw Yunho and Yeosang with a face so down and Semi who was biting on her nails.

"So what happened?", he ask and sit down on one of the available seat which was close to Semi.

"They close the case on us", Semi break it to him and Hongjoong freeze in confusion.

"What..why..how? We didnt even know who is guilty yet"

"The Head Prosecutor called this morning and told me to meet him and he just break off the case like that. Saying its an order from the higher authority"

"B-but what about Wooyoung?"

"Thats why I called", Semi sigh and eyed Hongjoong sadly, "since we dont have any other suspect, Wooyoung will be announced guilty as the case will be closed".

No one utter a word. Hongjoong's mouth shutter in disbelief as he think about Wooyoung. He worked so hard for him to prove his innocent yet all of their works just ran down the drain in one minute.

"There's nothing we can do. I'm sorry Hongjoong"

Hongjoong left after feeling all kinds of emotions. From anger to hatred and guilt. He called Mingi who was on another shift and met up with him. Even his used to be cheerful friend's head fell in surrender. They were both drinking in the bar and pour all of their emotions out into drinking alcohol.

The stress was building them up and they've finally come to realize about how one wanted to give up on their life. It wasnt their choice, it was their situation that force them to do such things.

Semi went home after her work. She was very exausted after trying to convince the head prosecutor to take some action into the unexpected situation but it seems like they would never open the case again.

Wooyoung was to be brought in court in 10 days and that means they only have 10 days to figure out what situation they are in at the moment. Have they been played since the beginning or was it someone's doing?.

However she tried to take her mind off of the world for a few minutes and shower. It clears her mind and she feels refreshed when she was being poured by the water on the face.

She still had so many things to do and she didnt even know if she will succeed so she wear a warm jacket and put a mask on and a beanie over her head.

"Lets go to the convenient, Hana"

She calls out to the person who was on the same room as her.
