The cats ended up staying in the tree for the rest of the day, into the night and into the next day. The dog finally left them after stalking around for almost a whole day which opted the cats to get down the tree and continue their journey to Tipsy's house.

"So Tipsy will be back tomorrow so you can just hang out in the back yard and once they're home you can get their attention. Then they'll get you back home," Remy said as they approached the white wooden fence marking Tipsy's yard.

"Thanks Remy. Will you visit me once I'm back home?" Virgil asked.

"Sure, just have to ask Tipsy where you live," Remy chuckled.

The two smiled at each other before their faces fell at the sound of barking. They looked over in fright to see Tooth charging at them, slobber falling from his mouth as he neared. The two cats bolted to the fence, Remy making it up with a mighty leap and nearly missing the top. Virgil, unfortunately, tripped on a pebble and when flying paws over ears on the grass. Tooth leaped closer, running straight over Virgil as he was more interested in Remy. The brown dog's huge back paw came down on Virgil's hind legs, causing a snap from one of them and a pain-filled scream to come from Virgil. Fiery pain exploded in his legs and up his spine, making the black tom lightheaded.

The loud noise attracted Tooth's attention, the dog bounding closer with his jaws wide open. Virgil, acting on instinct hissed and swiped his unsheathed claws out, slicing open four parallel wounds on the dog's slobbery pink tongue. The dog yelp, skittering back and holding his tongue out as beads of blood bubbled out of the wound. Virgil hissed again, frightening the savage dog away.

Once gone Virgil's head dropped as his breath's became ragged as waves and waves of pain washed up his spine. He vaguely saw Remy leap down from the fence and scamper over to him, but his vision was quickly consumed by darkness.

For the rest of the day and into the night Virgil drifted in and out of consciousness. When he was conscious he only saw blurry images and couldn't fully comprehend what was going on around him. He could make out the brown blob as Remy who must've taken him to somewhere safe. The last thing he remembered before seeping fully into unconsciousness were two tall blurry figures getting out of a large, shiny, blurry box and over to him. He remembered a warm feeling underneath him and a slight tug on his neck before it was all gone.
